Employer is providing health insurance - suffice?

Hi all,

I could not find much on employers providing health insurance for their employees, so i wondered is the below suffice or do i need to take out a second personal plan? The company do give me the option to put add ons at my own cost, however does the below mean i dont have to go looking for heathcare or do i still have to have one independant of employer?

In my contract it says:

Complementary Accident Insurance (UVG Zusatzversicherung)
The Company provides for an accident insurance exceeding the legal requirements ("UVG Zusatxversicherung") for which 100% of the premiums will be borne by the Company.

Health Insurance
You and your family (spouse and children) living with them in Switzerland will be added to the “Basic” (“Allgemeine”) insurance as per the Company’s corporate health insurance plan. The premium will be borne by the Company.

I haven't seen that much in Switzerland, so it's a pretty nice deal. Looks like you've got the standard required health insurance. I would, however, explore the add-ons. Particularly as you're not paying for the base, they could really be worthwhile in the event of an illness.

Your company is providing the minimum compulsory insurance cover

This is a good deal, as normally you have to pay this yourself - usually around 350 CHF a month, depending on your age etc.

So either enjoy the benefit as is, or top up with extra health care at your cost...

that is what you'd have to apply for with an insurance company anyways, but that is just basic coverage - there are additional items such as insurance bearing costs for glasses, dentist's visits, alternative medical treatment etc etc - so for those additional insurances it would be worth having a loot at what insurance companies offer.
