| | | A thumbs up for Permanence Surgery (HB Zürich)
Ok, long story short, but through my own stupidity I managed to cut the tip of my thumb pretty much down to the bone - well I did cut it down to the bone otherwise the blade wouldn't have stopped - I'm not explaining the hows and whys of this however because it was so stupid and I've had enough embarrassment for one day.
The bleeding hadn't stopped after 2 hours despite constant pressure, and against my wishes my GF ordered me to go the the HB in Zürich and get it looked at and disinfected. Me being me poo poo'd the idea because it was just a bit of a cut, and it would stop bleeding eventually. At this point she asked how long it had been since I'd had my last tetanus injection. I couldn't lie, and mentioned under my breath that it was sometime before 1990. Boom, under direct orders now. Bummer.
Anyway I got there and was seen to immediately by some very friendly staff - I thought I'd have to wait around for hours, but no, not at all like the NHS. Straight away I was given this bath for my thumb to disinfect it, and then 15 mins later the nurse gave my my new tetanus jab, and then the doc stopped the bleeding, then taped and bandaged my thumb up (no stitches: weird, I've had cuts less than this but always has stitches).
I was in and out in around 45 mins, and throughout that time I saw nothing other than professionalism.
On the negative side my wallet was lightened by around 190 chuffs, but no big deal. Plus it turns out that my companies accident insurance will more than likely pay for it - despite me being a total and utter plonker.

I am glad to hear you had such a good experience there. I typically go there for more urgent care-type situations (where I need to be seen immediately), and they have always done well by me (as well).
So I am a +1 for Permanence.
Here's hoping your finger gets well/recovers soon... |

It is a small adhesive strips which pulls the skin together in wounds in areas very rounded or with articulations. It is much easier to apply and give better results than stitches.
Don't beat yourself too hard - even Heston Blumenthal cut himself several times.

Had the same experience, and wound up at the same Permanence at Züri HB. They stitched my hand up nicely and gave me a tetanus jab, very quick, very good and friendly service.
All costs were covered by the SUVA after I filled out the Bagatell Unfall form, so no worries, you're probably eligible for this as well.
On the plus side, the doctor on my follow-up visit was an amazing cutie, women in uniform... ouch my heart!
Gueti Besserig!

The Doc gave me the ones left over from the pack just in case. | Quote: | | | | | i found that a bit of toilet roll and sellotape does the trick. | | | | | Twas indeed my plan. However the GF's quality control said otherwise. | Quote: | | | | | What, like the time I cut my thumb on a sharp knife when washing up, and when demostrating what had happened, cut the thumb on my other hand. | | | | | No, not that stupid. I only did it once |
