Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get beta HCG testing (for pregnancy) in Zurich? My GYN doesn't seem to do it, but it seems to be a normal thing to do in other countries?

I have been pregnant in 2 countries, with the first 3 times I tested at home and went to see the doctor at 10-12 weeks so never had the Beta counts. Then when pregnancy nr 4 went wrong I had beta count test to confirm the miscarriage. With pregnancy nr 5 had it done because of the previous miscarriage, that one went wrong as well, with pregnancy nr 6 (which ended well) I had it done to monitor it and for my own state of mind.

I know from the moment you test positive until you have your first ultra sound or heartbeat sound it is a scary time but when you do not have a history of miscarrying or other health issues they won't do the Beta counts. If you do have a history but you OB still don't want to do it then maybe you should find another OB.

The question is 'why' you want it done ?

If you are pregnant - congratulations - I recently checked the research for a friend, and up to 30% of pregnancies miscarry. But less than half of the time the woman knew she was pregnant before she miscarried...

I hope your pregnancy 'sticks' if that is what you are hoping for...

Beta hcg is the best test.

OP: Are you currently taking progesterone? It certainly helped my last pregnancy 'stick'.
