Doctor's fee

Hello,

I am planning to visit to a doctor, a GP to be precise, for the first time in Switzerland. Can anyone please give me some idea about a doc's fee ?

I know that I don't have to pay to the doc on the visit.

It is also obvious that it will be different per case but still some ballpark figure would be of help.

Thanks.

Re: Doctor's fee

This depends a lot on what you have to see the doctor about. If its just for feeling sick and not much is wrong then the visit should be 50-100CHF depending where you go.

Fees will vary between Zurich stadt and further out as doctors outside Zurich are less expensive especially if the tax charge rate is lower

Re: Doctor's fee

Looking at a recent bill from the Universitatspital in Basel, a basic consultation (excluding any test fees) costs approximately CHF16- for each five minutes.

Re: Doctor's fee

From 80 to 280 CHF in Basel, depending on the time spent and the tests performed

If you have an excess you can do whatever you want as your paying with your own money. Same with perscriptions France is often much cheaper than Germany-

And by having an excess you mean the total expense for one month is within the franchise?

Just be careful - if it's your first visit then you may well have to pay. I had to pay by card the first time I went to the doctor. I've also just changed doctor and I saw her for the first time today. She informed me a bill would be coming to my house.
