The End Of An Era........[SC quitting smoking]

After 10 years of smoking.......finally I am quitting today

I started my love affair with the gold B&H.......then when i moved here to Switzerland i switched to Marlboro lights.

I normally smoke 10-15 per day.........when i go out drinking this can rise to 40-50 in a night!!!

If i survive the the first 3 days, then i think i will be okay.

I am currently on a fitness crusade:

- no booze
- low carbs, high protein diet
- 4 x two hour weights and cardio training per week.

My next hurdle will be when the rugby season starts again at the end of March. After each home match we have a BBQ and normally drink till we drop......this will be my biggest test.

I plan to binge more on protein when my hunger increases.

Also i have downloaded a few 'quit smoking' apps on my iphone........should be good to chart my progress in terms of how long i have been smoke free and also how much money i have saved so far.

I have one ciggarette left......i will smoke that till the filter!!

cheers
SC

A couple of my colleagues have quit recently: they spoke about Allen Carr's "The Easy Way".

Good luck.

Re: The End Of An Era........

Stopped smoking 20 years ago by means of cold turkey.
My diet varies a bit however I know that I am on the right track as I am now down to a cozy fluffy bouncy 152 kilos.
Especially now that I have declared anybody under 140 kilos to be grossly underweight or for want of a better name an Asparagus tarzan, anybody wasting away with under 100 kilos is practically an embryo.

Breakfast is usually a Semmel with jam or honey and a coffee
Lunch fluctuates between a Currywurst or a Braten or Leberkässemmel
Cups of tea punctuate the day.
At the moment I am on a stir fry tick for evening but no carbs and a lot of salad.
A few beers and occasionally a bag of salt and vinegar crisps round the evening off.
Eat your hearts out slimmers.

Re: The End Of An Era........

Well done! I used to be a heavy smoker and managed to stop about 15 years ago. It isn't easy, but you are a rugby player and we don't give up do we?

If you need any help, and before you buy any more cigarettes, take a good look at these images,

BUT ONLY WHEN YOU FEEL WEAK!!

Re: The End Of An Era........

Good luck SC. You can do it! I know people who weaned off by switching to a pipe. If you need a fix get yourself a pipe- you'll definitely make an impression on your opposing team on game day showing up with a Peterson dangling from your teeth!

Re: The End Of An Era........

Brilliant - our youngest has stopped about 5 months ago, much to our admiring amazement. She'd been smoking heavily for nearly 20 years.
I gave up a very long time ago, like her, by going cold turkey- but I still have one every blue moon after a good meal- then not again for weeks or months.

BRAVO!

Re: The End Of An Era........

Interesting.

On a side note, what kinda shape are you in at the moment? Were you previously in a shape which you'd like to regain? or overall new level improvement.

Are you planning on slimming down, bulking up, or a combination of the two?
