International Pharmacy

There is a drug that I used to take back home for a medical condition that has crept back up. It's not available in Switzerland, but is in most of the EU. My doctor is willing to prescribe it if I can find a way of getting it since he spoke to my doctor back home.

It's not a controlled drug, does anyone know if there are pharmacies that will order drugs from an international source?

Re: International Pharmacy

That's the thing, it's not available here, my doc's looked it up and it's not available here, but available in France. There are tons of generics, none of them are available here..

The question is, how can I best gain access to this drug? I have the address of a pharmacy in Andorra, but I'd be more comfortable if a pharmacy here was able to import it, I'm also wondering if I can just go to France or Germany with a Swiss script and buy it there?

I don't understand why? The pharmacy in Andorra has a high reputation and my doctor wouldn't have give me their name if it wasn't. The only difference is that you make the call instead of your pharmacist. And your pharmacist doesn't take a quote on it.

Oh, and by the way, you're welcome...

Since it looks like you're not TOO far from the border, you should take your prescription to a pharmacie in France. Most will honor a foreign prescription, especially if it's from a bordering country and it isn't for a controlled substance.

Make sure your doctor prescribes using the generic name, and that his address and telephone number are clearly marked on the prescription.

If the first pharmacy says no, try one or two others. I guarantee that someone will fill it, especially if you explain that you can't get it filled in Switzerland as the drug is unavailable.

Re: International Pharmacy

I've had Swiss prescriptions honored in France (Paris area) and vice versa. I would just take your dr's rx to somewhere across the border.
