Re: Extremely dry hair and skin

Followed your advice but I put more than two drops in the shampoo I am using. It was like 70% shampoo and 30% olive oil. Best result ever so far! Thanks!

Plain ordinary cold pressed Olive Oil.

For skin, and hair.

Just add 2 drops to a 1 franc size dollop of shampoo, and you wont need any conditioner.

For skin, a bit rubbed on both hands and then smoothed over skin - the skin absorbs it. Also a cure for "old-age" skin that is brittle.

As an aside - I bought a tub of "Milk fat" at Landi, and find it wonderful for all over body. The Swiss great grandmother of the family recommended it. ( It`s used for cows udders so they stay soft and pliable), and the farmers wives use it for their bodies.
500gr for Sfr5. Contains no preservatives or perfume.

Re: Extremely dry hair and skin

In india we use lot of home remedies for such problems... Milk and egg yolks have been used for many years to condition hair and add protein... Hot oil treatment for dry hair:- 2 ounces aloe vera gel. 2 ounces of castor oil. 6 drops of rose geranium cedar essential oil. 8 drops of rosemary essential oil. 2 drops of ginger essential oil. Mix ingredients, warm oil and apply to hair and scalp in sections, cover the head with a towel and leave it on for 1 hour. Mash a ripe banana and apply it on the face and neck. Leave it for sometime and then wash the face with lukewarm water. This is a best dry skin cure. Dry skin remedy - In severe cases of dry skin castor oil or avocado oil is highly beneficial. After bathing applying Aloe Vera gel is also effective. This is good dry skin remedy.

Re: Extremely dry hair and skin

I used to suffer terribly from dry skin when I lived full-time in Switzerland and, indeed, having been back for a very short time I have found my hands to be dry and chapped.

However, the handcream (and body lotion) that I found to be very good is the Aldo Vandini range (I think it was bought in the bio range in Aldi). I particularly like the Macadamia Vanille variety which not only smells delicous but is also incredibly moisturising, whilst being non greasy. I now get friends to bring a supply to me when I am in Malta too as it is so good.

Melkfett.
Alas, the message is too short.
So I need to add some useless drivel.
Is it enough already?

"Melkfett"......and the brand name the farmers use is "Agraro" - 500gr tub costs 5.40. (Milking Grease) There are smaller more expensive tubs, but this is the one the farmers buy.

Blurb on the side says " Excellent skin care, protects and hydrates the skin.
Guarantees an easy and hygienic milking and an excellent care of the udder (). Without fragrance and taste. No dyes, perfumes or preservatives. Application: After milking, apply Agraro to the udder, rub in well".

(Great for feeding mothers?)

I wonder if this is similar to "bagbalm" in the US. Also used on cow udders.
