Extended rear-facing car seats

Has anyone got any experience of extended rear-facing carseats? From what I've read they are not widely available and am considering ordering from Sweden, but would really like to test the seats in our car before purchasing. If anyone knows places selling these seats in CH, preferably in the Leman area please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Extended rear-facing car seats

I did a bit of research into this and was unable to find anywhere in Switzerland that sells extended rear facing seats (or 5 point harness front facing seats for over 18 kgs for that matter!) I did get in touch with a Swedish car seat shop which was very helpful in explaining which seats will fit in which cars. PM me if you want the details.

Re: Extended rear-facing car seats

I bought the BESAFE car seat in Germany (and got the VAT back). It is such a great seat and was tested in Germany last year. It was the best one! You should test the seat before you buy him. It needs more space and the seat from you or the co-driver has to be a little bit more forward. If you need more informations please let me know. Expensive but very good and safe. My 9 month old daughter likes to sit in the seat.

Re: Extended rear-facing car seats

We have the BeSafe rear facing seat for our 2 1/2 year old. She is quite tall and i am now struggling to get her into it as her legs are long and she has to sit with them resting up against the seat of the car.

However i think they are great. My BIL is a Police Officer and the stories he has told me of the car accidents he has attended make me stick with my rear facing seat, at least until our toddler is 3 years old. The seat is switchable, ie. It can forward face too.
