Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

If aggressive IVF means aggressive (high) stimulation it may also end up with high amount but very poor quality of eggs (oocytes). The best would be 8-10 oocytes per IVF cycle.

Australia is know to be leading country in IVF.
But in Europe - Poland and Hungary are countries where you receive treatment from world class experts. Both countries work with the newest techniques - not all are available in CH, new clinics and competitive prices and almost everyone speaks English.

Plus in Poland there is UEFA this year !!! Another good excuse to take off from work

Hi, for anyone else who is trying to conceive, I can highly recommend Dr Mock in Geneva. I now have little three year old which I conceived through IUI at 43. I did get pregnant first time, but lost it and then conceived on the third time. I was amazed.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Can you tell me, if an IVF is successful, is one supposed to go during the pregnancy to the fertility clinic or to "normal" gyn?

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

We live in Zug and after seeing several specialists for our first IVF (last autumn) we were told to go to Austria (Bregenz) as the Austria law keeps the embryo for up to 5 days compared to 2 days here in Switzerland. This allows for a better quality choice; we were told this would increase our chances since they're v low (am 41 with low AMH and a story of recurrent miscarriages). The drive is 1h45 and we had to go 3 times- the IVF clinic has a partnership with Zug Kanton Spital so I go there for all the scans and to generally follow the cycle. This time since it's my second IVF and I have met the doctors I'll only have to go to Bregenz for egg retrieval and transfer which is great.
Best of luck!

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hi, I am currently going to Fiore in St. Gallen and I can highly recomend them. In Zurich, best place to go is the University Clinic, but long waiting list. Tip: Always look for the best lab and the best biologist. They are the ones who make the difference. Best of luck!

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

I have stimulated at both a clinic in the US and here at GynART. I would make the following observations:

1- Lab is critical, huge advantage US clinic, where there is also no wait time
2- Laws are more favorable in the US, such as culturing all embryos to day five, and PGD is allowed in most states
3- More customized protocols in the US. They only used menopur, for instance, did not check hormone levels at all. More thorough monitoring MIGHT have given us an answer why only one follicle responded in one IUI cycle, or may have indicated waiting was advantageous.
4- The cost is about one third to one half of that in the US.

Not every clinic in the US is better, but there are some that are just a cut above. I have only nice things to say about the doctors themselves in GynART. It is their protocols that leave me a bit skeptical. Maybe a lot skeptical.

PM me if you have specific questions; I will be happy to share. I have done a lot of homework on the clinics in the US.

I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with the Zurich Unispital clinic. I am going through the process now and it has not been easy..test after test..waiting..more tests..more waiting. If nothing else the process has definitely made me more patient. It is also difficult because I don't know anyone that has gone through the process so I have been relying on the internet to answer many questions.

Any feedback/input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Shannon
It is a test on your patience, but it's worth all the tests and the time it takes. I thought it was never going to happen but the patience did pay off and I now have twin boys through ivf and then had a little girl naturally. Try to stay positive, not easy I remember but hopefully you will get there too x x

Not to mention the emotional rollercoaster for both parents.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hi all, I'm going to start the ICSI treatment with Dr. Singer in September. Did anyone have a positive experience with him? I'm looking for info about the treatment and obviously the doctor.
I already did an IUI at the Unispital in Zurich but I wasn't so happy (It was an ICSI at the beginning, but it turns out I have low ovarian reserve so I had only one good egg, but they didn't told us that with one egg they did only IUI. I started in January and ended in May because they have a lot of patients, different doctors will see you each time you go, etc.).

Where did you have your treatment when you got your twin boys)? Was it Switzerland?

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hello,

I have tried to find a forum for English speaking people LIVING in Switzerland going through or planning to go through ivf...I wasn't able to find anything really (just little posts in various places) except here at the englishforum. Unless I missed it? If so please advise

While it is interesting to read IVF forums in other countries, it would be better to have a 'local' resource for those going through IVF here in CH. So we know what to expect, what issues can arise, costs, share knowledge and experiences etc. It seems it can differ greatly from one end of the country to the other.

As some of the posts I have read through on EF are quite old, it would be really helpful to get some recent updates on clinic experiences in & out of Switzerland, Dr's in CH, costs etc.

Can anyone in Northern Switzerland provide some info? In Zurich - recommended dr's, I've just read a thread on EF about Bregenz - does anyone have any personal experience? Anyone gone/going to Spain, Belgium etc?

Would help us to make our decisions going forward.

Thanks
