Post-Partum Girdles

I'm looking into using a post-partum girdle. I have a few months to decide if this is best for me, and to find one.

Has anyone here purchased one of these in Zurich? Know where to find one? I'm thinking I could inquire at the apoteke as they are considered medical compression garments for after surgery as well.

I would rather not purchase online as it would be better to be fitted for one by a professional.

Thanks for the input!

B

I thought the duct tape was for the kids, not the mothers.

Janer,

In case I can't find what I am looking for here in Zurich, I will resort to an online purchase -- most likely from here:

Re: Post-Partum Girdles

They don't, they tend to make your muscles lazy as they don't have to do any work. Same thing will happen if you wear those control knickers that hold your belly in everyday.

That's what I thought. Muscles get lazy or disappear when supported and not used.

Re: Post-Partum Girdles

While there is some debate as to whether they work or not, it largely depends on what you are hoping to accomplish by wearing one.

Some women tend to think that these are meant simply to help "shrink" your tummy faster after giving birth. If that is your main reasoning for using one, then I would say, no, it probably doesn't work.

But a true postpartum girdle should offer support for your back and abdominal area, and is really considered a medical compression garment, which are used after many types of surgeries.

Besides, you aren't meant to wear them long term, so I doubt that your muscles become lazy after 6-8 weeks of wearing one.
