Compressor nebulizer system repair

My brother is visiting from California. He has a serious medical disease that requires nebulized drugs to be inhaled. Before I had a chance to get him a converter his pluged in his machine which is rated for 120v. Oops. I found a pharmacy to lend us a replacement for now. I know EF is a long shot but anyone know where I could get his repaired? Philips Respitronics InspirationElite

Thanks!

Re: Compressor nebulizer system repair

I would try their customer care centre for Europe...

http://www.healthcare.philips.com/ma...ator/index.wpd

How long is he going to be in Switzerland ? I get the feeling it will be less problematic to have the machine fixed in the USA if he can manage with the one you have on loan for the period of his stay in Europe...

Re: Compressor nebulizer system repair

Bringing an old thread back to life.. sorry folks..
Need to find a place where I can purchase an at home nebuliser/nebulizer. Lil Dude down and out with very icky cold. For the last few days I've used the machine we brought from home(USA) WITH the transformer just fine. However, last night the machine died.
We need a machine for home usage because no matter WHAT kind of cold or illness Lil Dude gets it ALWAYS goes to his chest. Machine cannot be the ultrasonic variety as his meds clearly state they are NOT to be used in an ultrasonic machine.
Would appreciate any info you might have. Would prefer if machine could be found in Geneva, Nyon, Lausanne area.
As always---- thanks in advance for any info or help!

ps. the kid on the train/bus that sounds like a barking seal coughing up a lung?? Yup. He's mine....

There's a nasty bug (in addition to the flu) going around at the moment. My daughter caught it, and after 10 days of symptoms similar to those you describe I ended up at the ped: pneumonia...

So it might be a good idea to bring the little one to the doc if the symptoms are so bad! After 36 hours on antibiotics my daughter was already much better.

I would expect that you can buy one via the local pharmacy... If they do not have on 'in stock' they should be able to order one in...or try a few different pharmacies...maybe if it is urgent, the pharmacy at the kids hospital.

And yes, whatever is going round is nasty, so if you are worried I would double check with the doctor...

Ps. Is he asthmatic /does he have an asthma management plan?

Have you contacted the Lungenliga / Ligue Pulmonaire?

Re: Compressor nebulizer system repair

Melusine, swisspea, and 3wishes,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I must admit we were in a bit of a desperate state. I am happy to report that the better half was easily able to rent the nebulizer machine from a place called Amavita at the Geneva Gare Cornvin. They required a 100 CHF deposit.

Swisspea to address your question about asthma and a mgmt. plan. The doc back in the US always said that Lil Dude had reactive airway disease vs. true asthma. It normally isn’t any sort of problem or issue EXCEPT for when he catches a cold that decides to linger for more than 48-72 hours because then it normally heads for his chest. This is why we have the nebulizer machine and a few different meds that we use to try and keep him comfortable and to keep things from going South fast.
With this bug the nebs didn’t provide him with the relief we expected.
Given how he seemed and how the bug didn’t appear to want to move on we finally took him to the doctor today. I will say I was very impressed with the doc, the office staff, etc. I actually look forward to taking him back for his yearly check up to meet with the doc again and see what they have to say etc. BTW end diagnosis is that it’s just a really horrible virus that is making the rounds and Lil Dude is working his way hopefully toward the end of it.

Whatever this bug is that is going around though is a real nasty treat. I started to come down with a version of it except unlike Lil Dude I had a pretty good raging fever on and off for two days. It completely knocked me down and out! The better half was down for a day but doesn’t seem to have caught it nearly as bad as the two of us. Heck even the poor cat had some kind of crud that gave him a runny nose, poor appetite, and had him sleeping more than normal for 24 hours.

Melusine I hope your daughter has completely recovered and swisspea and 3wishes I hope you and your family and friends stay healthy. Again… a HUGE thanks! Merci beaucoup!!!!

Re: Compressor nebulizer system repair

This bug us nasty indeed. My daughter is better (antibiotics were truly miraculous), but now it's the baby who's infected...

He's coughing like an aging chain-smoker... but we were at the ped this afternoon, and apparently it's viral. So nothing to do except wait. It's SO frustrating.

I came down with it too, but I seem to recover better than the kids. I'm a teacher, and tons of kids are sick.
