Is there really no fluoride in Swiss tap water? or cloride?

I have heard it was banned about 10 years ago to add fluoride to the tap water in Switzerland. Is it true?

Maybe there are some industry insiders among us to give a big YES to this question? Would be nice.

And how about cloride?

Re: Is there really no fluoride in Swiss tap water? or cloride?

Switzerland decided it did not want to imitate the US or Nazi Germany and removed it from the water supply, or perhaps thats what they tell us.

Cloride? Do you mean chlorine?? No, there is no extra added drugs or poisons in the Swiss water system. You can also check directly with your city hall (Gemeinde) regarding water quality in your area...

You can check your water quality here. Luckily, much of the water here is clean to begin with, though apparently mine contains nitrates and mind controlling mesopholic bacteria.

Why go to the Apotheke when you can just drink the tap water

Note: According to my Swiss husband... the water plants here use a special bacteria to eat away the residue of pharmaceuticals flushed down the toilet... Don't know if that's true or not but it is a big problem in other countries.

Looks like the Swiss use cocaine instead of fluoride, they got class, and money.

Re: Is there really no fluoride in Swiss tap water? or cloride?

Fluoridation is ~unproven. Fluoride in small quantities is definitely good for your teeth. But fluoridation of water, probably not. The fact that the nazis backed it is irrelevant; they were also fond of autobahns and volkswagens.

Chlorination, on the other hand, is a good thing. One US town (alledgedly) decided to get rid of chlorine in their water. A few months later they had a cholera epidemic. If you don't what chloride, stop eating anything with salt in it.

London has the cleanest tap water of any city in the world. Anything that's been through so many kidneys must be really pure.

Looking at this website I'm amazed how minimally the water is treated, basically it's pumped out of the source (in our case ground and lake), filtered, oxidated and plumbed into the mains. Cool!

I asked my (Swiss) dentist about that once, and he told me that most people here get their fluoride from salt.

I guess that explains why my m-i-l uses so much salt on everything.

I spent a few years a few different times in the desert southwest in the US (Mojave Desert). I remember my parents having to have special toothpaste without fluoride in it because our water was from natural underground aquifers and so very rich in fluoride. Supposedly great for us kids, but it's one of those things that too much is definitely too much, so the adults were told not to use any additional fluoride.
