orthopedic shoes for baby

Morning,
My little son has been suggested to wear orthopedic shoes, as he has some tonus in feet, we do wear the summer ones at home, as he started to stand from 7 months and now we are already trying to walk -9 months. So we realized, that in 1-2 months he will walk and as its a winter time we are looking fro a winter orthopedic shoes,
now the question, can anyone suggest where to look fro it.
i just have called Orthopädie Bähler AG, which is a branch from Walder Junior.
They said they do it, offered to send us a catalogue to choose the type and style and order. they do it AND THE PRICE FOR ONE PAIR OF THAT SHOES IS 700 CHF.
................. no comments.
Thanks GOD our son does not have a big problems, that s prophylactics case, what do mamas of other children do, who have really big problems with health.
thnx,
julia.
P.S. summer shoes we wear at home have been bought out of Switzerland.

Re: orthopedic shoes for baby

Hi there,

I'd love to help, but I have no idea what you mean by "tonus in feet".

I tried looking it up on Google, in various ways and means, but the results were so obscure, so as to be of no use at all.

Perhaps with some more in-depth info, someone on here may be able to offer a tip or two.

Ros

I don't like to stick my nose in, but are you indicating that he has high tone (muscular) even in his toes? Maybe a paed physio or occupational therapist would be a good/better starting place?

Re: orthopedic shoes for baby

i have a friend who has this, and so did both her children who are now walking - the third child is only 8 months old so not yet walking. Both the "big" ones started walking "later", ie; at ages 19 months and 22 months, because of the tonus. The first child went to a physiotherapist, but i dont think he wore special shoes..
If they are required by the doctor, wouldnt the health insurance pay?
