Has anyone used Soap Nuts for machine washes ?

And if yes, are they available here in CH ?

Re: Has anyone used Soap Nuts for machine washes ?

My mum asked for some for Christmas a few years back.

She was quite disappointed. They did not seem to leave her clothes as clean or fresh-smelling, the bag took a long time to dry out and she soon had to switch back to ordinary washing powder for her whites as her white items turned rather grey...

I don't think she'd recommend them.

I had the same experience, they don't really clean the whites as expected and the fresh smell is missing

What she calls 'clean and fresh smelling' is the result of synthetic perfumes (which often cause allergies) and chemicals that make the clothes look brighter (optical brighteners, fluorescent chemical particles) that almost certainly aren't healthy either.

Basically it's an illusion, not real cleanliness.

For whites you should add oxygen based bleach powder.

I use Ecover which is available in the Müller Reformhaus branches and from leshop.ch

Maybe but id rather trick other people into thinking that my clothes are clean instead of wearing a grey looking white shirt that looks dirty

Re: Has anyone used Soap Nuts for machine washes ?

Currently my sister is using these berries and she is quite happy with them. But on higher degrees (95) they dissolve pretty quickly, so then you can use them for 2-3 washes only instead of 10+.

She is washing even baby nappies so they do work... But if they have waited longer, i.e. a day+ oxi is needed on some.

Hence, I wanted to but some in Zurich as I remember seeing them before, but seems they have disappeared. Could not see them anywhere, including Leshop that someone above recommended....
