Dentist Enquiry

So i went to the dentist today and i need to get 2 wisdom teeth removed. I didn't agree to an appointment straight away because I'm waiting for them to tell me how much it will cost. They wont get back to me until after the weekend, so has anyone had this procedure done already and knows how much it will be approximately?

Re: Dentist Enquiry

If you are getting it done inside Switzerland be prepared for a large 3 digit or small 4 digit number.

If you go outside Switzerland to Germany the price will be less then half.

Re: Dentist Enquiry

Did you get a quote to tell you how much the quote would cost?

I didn`t, and for turning down the Swiss dentist I had to pay Sfr190 for sitting in his chair.

The german dentist did the job for 1,200 euros (with 10% discount for cash), compared to Sfr6,400. Not wisdom teeth, but just as complicated.

This is the reason why when we did our daughter for braces we went direct to germany and didn't even bother with Switzerland even for a quote since that would have been chargeable just to find out the cost. We had good estimates from others with comparisons of >12000CHF - 16000CHF to 4500Euro seems huge and the distance is less then 30mins travel between the 2 options. No prize for guessing whihc option we opted for

Re: Dentist Enquiry

Wow! It seems crazy expensive, it would probably be cheaper to fly back to the UK and get it done! I cant believe how much braces cost here!
They gave me an xray today, didnt give me a choice just told me to go into another room. Wonder how much they will charge me for that!

Approx. 200 CHF for the xray.
A single simple small size x-ray costs around CHF 20, an orthopantomogram or suchlike may cost up to CHF 140. But I have yet to meet a patient who comes just for an x-ray and absolutely nothing else. So, like the charge for wisdom tooth extraction, the final amount on the invoice may depend much more on paraphernalia than on the procedure proper.

See this thread too.

Re: Dentist Enquiry

Ask your dentist BEFORE he starts! I tell all my patients beforehand.

Re: Dentist Enquiry

I highly recommend going elsewhere for dental work if you can. Just got exam, x-rays, cleaning and one filling for $110 in the good old USA. No, I didn't make a special trip. Just took care of it while I was there. Totally worth it.
