We're shortly going to be moving to the Vevey area and I'm trying to research what there is in the way of mother and toddler groups. I can't find out much on the web and wondered if anyone may have any experiences? We're looking at houses around Blonay, St Legier and Chardonne/ Jongny, but we'd be happy to travel to a good playgroup.

I speak French reasonably well and my daughter is not yet 2. I'm keen to get her integrated into the local culture and language, so would ideally be looking for local-language groups. However, we'd also be pleased to find out more about English language ones.

Riviera club - in the Nestle club across the road from the Alimentarium in Vevey. Mixture of nationalities but lots of English speakers and a sanity saver for many new arrivals with pre-school children!

I am in exactly the same situation as you ...I am moving to vevey next week and my daughter is 15-month old...My husband is at Nestle so I will try to get into the Riviera Contact Group mentioned in the Thread but would love to meet up if you want when finally settled there...I am French by the way, but married to a Brit, so both languages work for me...

If you want French then there is Maison Verte in the same building as the English library opposite Manor and next to C and A in town. This is a drop-in free play space for you and your children and is open a couple of hours each day. Every day is different times. I have never been but have been told it is friendly and is a good way of practising French. For tiny babies the weighing days organised by CMS are good hang-out places too (free).
Both Riviera and Little Arrows playgroups have also an excellent reputation.

the riviera club is only for the kids of Nestle employees? I've heard about it and we would love to try something like this, my two years old craves for the company of other kids around the same age. French/English both ok for us. Thanks in advance!

I have recently moved to Montreux, I have a one year old and am also looking for a mother and toddler group. Is the Riviera club still open if so does anyone know what days and times my son and i can visit? I am also looking to register with a good pediatrician... can anyone recommend someone in the vevey/montreux area?

I too live in Montreux and have a 10 month and 3 yr old.
The Rivieria playgroup and Little Arrows playgroup stop over the summer and will restart in the first week of September.
The Rivieria playgroup is a turn-up and play set-up. Whereas Little Arroows meets in a smaller room, so you have to register yourself a place. I am a regular at Little Arrows, but don't go to the other playgroup as often as my older one is now at nursery on those mornings.
I can highly recommend my children's pediatrician (Dr Pierre Armenti 021 963 58 94) she is in Montreux above the King Jouet toy shop! I just turned up at the reception to register my children as I thought that would be easier than by phone. Address is Av du Casino 51.

Thank you so much for your message, incredibly helpful. I am so glad to have the details of your childrens doctor as my 1 year old is due his 1yr immunisations and i was beginning to worry as to where to go. I shall get in touch with Dr. Armenti today.
Where abouts are you in Montreux, we would love to meet up one day if you are ever free. We are just outside montreux in Territet.
