English-speaking endocrinologists in Vaud?

Hello all,

My husband has type 1 diabetes and thyroid issues (Graves disease treated with radioactive iodine about a year ago). We arrived in Switzerland not long ago, and he brought as much insulin and other meds with him as possible, but probably only has 2-3 months worth at this point. So, he needs to get settled with a good endocrinologist as soon as possible.

Does anyone have personal experience with / recommendations for a good English-speaking endocrinologist in Vaud, preferably between Lausanne and Geneva? He doesn't speak a word of French yet (although he is fluent in Dutch), and with his work schedule (extremely busy and demanding) he doesn't have time to visit 10 different doctors to find a good one.

Also - he uses an insulin pump (Insulet Omnipod), and does an excellent job managing his blood sugar levels. He won't have the time (or the inclination) to go back to needles, so he needs a doctor who will be willing to support his continued use of a pump.

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Here you go,

Endocrinologist. Dr Patrick-Olivier Rosselet (lausanne)
-my family member has been seeing him since 2 years ago.
- He is excellent -- he demonstrates very good knowledge about all thyroid related diseases (including Grave diseases). He is very professional, detailed and patient. He also gave very good advice and it proved to help and work.
- I know that he has the clinic for 30-40 years (He looks like way beyond his retirement age so i guess it tells why he's so good).
-he speaks perfect English.

- as far as I know, normally you get to see a specialist here through referral by GP (general practitioner), you might want to check it beforehand.

Diabetician : Not sure if you ask for one in your post. If so, please PM me.

Good luck.

Regards

I certainly hope you had more luck with Rosselet than I have had. I have been trying for about ten years to find someone in Vaud who has any idea about thyroid disease. I saw Rosselet for about a half a year. He kept telling me that there was nothing wrong with the dose I was taking, because the TSH was fine, according to the numbers of his lab, which according to the America College of Physical Endocrinologists, was out of date ten years previously. He never paid ANY attention to my symptoms and the fact that I did not feel at all well on that dose. He also NEVER spoke English with me!
I am still looking for a competent practitioner in Vaud. Any suggestion?

Hi ingridwyss,

My husband ended up seeing Dr Marc Egli in Epalinges and has been seeing him for nearly 2 years now. He's quite good and is happy to speak English. Highly recommended. Nice thing is (and not sure how common this is in Switzerland), my husband can communicate with him by email between appointments and he's always very responsive.

Good luck!
