Gyn Advice Basel

Hi all,

New to the forum. Just found I am pregnant (unexpected and still coming to terms!) I searched the forum and contacted Elizabeth Daly for my first checkup. However, she was full till Oct! So, the receptionist suggested an alternate doctor Dr. Iveta Strnad Vallis.

I was looking about her but could not find much as to her way of approach. If someone has some experience with her, kindly share. She speaks English acc. to the Receptionist, who spoke English herself.

Have got an appointment for this Friday so if someone can suggest about her it would be much helpful.

-Cheers

Hi! Both Dr. Daly and Dr. Strnad are in practice together, and both used to be in the practice where my GP is - they opened their new practice with two dermatologists. I've not seen Dr. Daly myself, but when I'd asked my GP for his recommendation after being a bit unhappy with my previous GYN and the reasons why (I wanted someone with a bit more caring "bedside manner"), he set me up with Dr. Strnad.

I only saw her twice, so can not say so much - but I wasn't displeased with her. (I'm simply lazy about making doctor's appointments usually, unless something is really bothering me )

My wife uses Bettina Ludwig (as mentioned here) and has had no problems.

Re: Gyn Advice Basel

I'm so happy to find that there's already a thread about good lady doctors in Basel!
Do all of the above-mentioned doctors do Gynecology (for us un-pregnant ladies) as well as Obstetrics (care during pregnancy)?

Also, congrats to newmom !!!!!!!!!

Re: Gyn Advice Basel

Hello! Similar to the OP, I just found out I am pregnant for the first time (!) and tried contacting Dr. Claudine Landolt ( also recommended on the forum). The receptionist said she had retired a year ago, and a Dr. Birte Jentsch has her practice there. I have gone ahead and made an appointment ( I wanted someone who would see me before the holidays!) - but would anyone know anything about Frau Jentsch? I'm hoping for some feedback!!
And if not, would anyone have advice ? I have a few (very few really) questions about her rate of C-sections and hospital practice, but otherwise, as long as she seems competent and I feel comfortable, can I just go ahead? Any pointers for picking and staying with an ob-gyn?
Thank you for any answers!

Re: Gyn Advice Basel

I saw Landolt once but got pregnant after she retired and changed to Dr. Adriane Ladewig by recommendation from a friend.

I had originally tried to see Ladewig before Landolt, but when I called there was a 6-month waiting time. When I called this time already pregnant, I got an appointment within a couple weeks. I didn't try to get an appointment with the other doctor who took over from Landolt (would've been my next option I guess if Dr. Ladewig was not available).

Dr. Ladewig speaks English and also is an obstetrician, delivers at Bethesda. She's very clear, no-nonsense, I feel safe. Dr. Züst, her partner, also speaks English and seems very nice, perhaps warmer even - I had some phone contact with her for test results when Dr. Ladewig was away.

Re: Gyn Advice Basel

Thank you both for your input!

For anyone else looking for info, I did go ahead and visit Dr. Jentsch. She seems competent and she did call me over the holidays, when she was closed, because some results came in and she wanted me to head to the university hospital to get it checked out. She called the hospital and told them I was coming too. ( Didn't love my experience with the hospital - but that is a different story) .
The only negative is that she does not deliver babies.
