Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

My understanding is that if you only have basic insurance then you will only have the doctor on call at the hospital for your delivery (I may be wrong though). To have your own OB/Gyn deliver your baby I thought you would need to have private insurance. You can attend any OB/Gyn at their office right up til your due date.

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

I have the same impression as eireann. Will be able to tell you in around 3 months if it's a problem... I'm 6 months pregnant (1st baby). Currently being followed by Dr Seraj, but don't have private insurance. She said that around 1month before my due date she'll transfer my dossier to the CHUV, and I'll do my last check-up there.

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

The other option can be, if you don't have an OB/GYN and are expecting, is just do all of your appointments directly at the hospital. I know the CHUV does this, and if they follow your pregnancy from the beginning, they will give you the same midwife for every appointment. The doctor will always change, but the midwives do most of the work at the CHUV anyway. You'd have to contact the CHUV directly to see who speaks English.

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

My wife is visiting Dr. Bazarbachi at St.Loup hospital in Pompaples.
It is a small village between Lausanne and Orbe, and there is a hospital there. Unfortunatelly, there is no birth delivery at this hospital, so you will anyhow have to do it at CHUV.

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

Hello, I am also looking for an english speaking OB/Gyn that has private office and also works at the CHUV. Since I would like to deliver at the CHUV, I prefer to have my OB/Gyn present during the whole process.

Thanks :-)

hi, has anyone had any experiences with Dr Catherine Beck?
I understand she doesn't deliver the baby at CHUV, but at a private clinic?
thanks

Dr. Philippe Bracher is very nice and very good. His cabinet is in Chailly.

For infertility- IVF etc., go to the CPMA.
For endometriosis, go to a specialist such as Dr. JM Wenger in Geneva or Prof. Marc Possover in Zurich. As this condition needs surgical treatment, going to a specialist is essential.

Dr. Sylvie Rouiller in Morges is very good too, she's an obstetrician and also speaks english.

Sylvie Rouiller works one morning a week at the CHUV but you'd deliver in Morges. In the delivery wards at the CHUV, the midwives are more present, in any case.

This is correct, the midwives are most involved in the delivery wards at the CHUV.

I recommend checking with your insurance to see what they cover...

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

I found the name of Dr. Seraj from here, ... but my experience with her is totally different and unpleasant. I have to say that she is Iranian and she speaks in Persian not Arabic. I share the details with you in the next post, cause the other people who find her name here has to know about it.
In short, she is really out of the standards of respecting to the patient, respect to their feelings, and their worries especially when she is mom for the first time. During my pragnancy, I found the answer of the most of mz questions from google!

I have an amazing doctor, English, French and Arabic speaker.
She is someone you can trust (she found + operated my best friend from a breast cancer and followed me during pregnancy)
I do trust and recommend her:

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

Complete story for those who are interested:

1. I had to wait almost 2 hr at her cabin to be able to visit her, in all cases; I set the appointment with her from at least one month before. I had to go back to work but sometimes a simple check up took me whole the afternoon from 14 to 17:30.
2. When I tried to save my time and energy by going a little bit later, they postponed my appointment in a way that at my 7 months visit, I was waiting for 3hr at the cabin.

3. One time, I got some strange pains during my pregnancy; it was in the same day that I had the blood test at their clinic. When, I went there to see her as an emergency case, (I had the pains for more that 24 hr). Her secretary went to her, I have seen her sitting without any patient in the office, I have heard even the sound of music...Then she came back and said in such cases you have to go to CHUV!!!! She cannot see you!! For me it is horrible! How a doctor can forget their responsibility about patients?!? Especially a mom and baby!

4. I wanted to have her as my doctor till the delivery, luckily my insurance (Golden care, student type) supported my payments at their private clinic too. But the third sign which destroyed all my trust to her was her request to be her sample to check her ultrasound machine with the technician of company! It was the last 2 visits that I had with her.
After having almost 2 hrs delay in visiting me, she came up with looking through papers to find my name!!(I have been her patient for 5 months), I propose you one FREE Sonography while the technician can check my machine!! She forced me to wait as pregnant woman 2 hrs more to check her machine! We did not need the machine; it was a simple check up..... Then when, I rejected her request, the battle triggered by her ... At that day, she forced me to wait 1.5 hrs more, she was so impolite, she tried to force to me to go to CHUV before the appropriate time....and she didn’t care at all that this is my first pregnancy!
5. At the very end, she found that I can go to their private clinic and her behavior changed dramatically. However, it was just the smell of money from my point of view.
After all, I changed to a doctor in CHUV. She was great! No fancy cabin, but so caring, nice and interesting person. She can understand English, which was enough for me. I know 2 others at CHUV who are very good doctors too. I enjoyed a lot from the time that I have been at CHUV. I had difficult delivery, but I have very nice memory from everybody at CHUV.

Re: English Speaking Gynecologist in Lausanne

Nice Gynecologists at CHUV:
Dr. Katyusha Francini
0213143513
She understands English and can say principle things in English too. )French is her mother tongue)
She is so caring, has very good practical methods, for example my baby position before delivery was not fine, but with some exercises, she helped me to avoid sezariane.

Dr. Martine Jacot Guillarmod
021 314 0810
She can speak English and French, she is so accurate and professional too.

Appreciate everyone that has posted suggestions so far - would REALLY appreciate hearing of anyone else ppl have had a good experience with so far. Are breast exams a standard part of the exams here btw? Just manual or ultrasound?
