Have you tried a toy shop? I am not being sarcastic or simplistic but that would be a good place to start. I saw some really nice wooden ones in the toy shop with a white background and red writing on the sign (sorry, don't know the name but I know that there is a huge on in Zurich) so that would be a good place to start. Alternatively try to track down a toy library or visit your local brokenhaus

Pastorini has lots of educational toys, good quality, good advice, on the pricey side - but always worth a look around. They have one store in Zurich, Weinplatz (tram stop Rathaus and over the small bridge) and one in Dübendorf and you can buy online, if you know what you're looking for.

That would probably be Franz Carl Weber, or "Kids Town" as it's now know as... On Bahnhofstrasse, stop "Rennweg, Augustinergasse" - you can't miss it.

There is also a shop in the Niederdorf, just down the way from the Munster. It is a puzzle shop and I recall seeing very nicely made wooden block type puzzles youngsters of the age mentioned.

No, I'm not a Mum.

Re: seeking help from mothers

There is another gem of a toy shop in the old town (Oberdorf):

Rien ne va plus
Oberdorfstrasse 34
8001 Zürich

It's an independently run shop, has loads of board games, kites, dragon/castle figures etc. - so, it's great for young and old boys...
No baby toys, no Lego, no computer/video games. (Oh, and no website )

Re: seeking help from mothers

Hi Lina, check out your local library, most of them also have a toy lending service (ludothek) these are an excellent resource for parents. Keep it for as long as your child has exhausted the possibilities, then just check it back in.

Hi
have you tried BEA-Verlag? It's definitely the cheapest store I know and the wooden toys are gorgeous.

For buying their stuff you need BEA-Points which you can find in many magazines, gas bills etc.
