| | | Boys with earings
I am quite an open person, but why do many boys aged 8 onwards wear earings. In my opinion it looks pretty doof. Is it me!

It is a tradition in a number of parts of Switzerland. Never looked at Swiss tourist posters of cow herds and cheesemakers from Appenzell, etc. ?

It is traditional for many Appenzeller men to have earings. Usually they are on the right ear. (regardless of lifestyle).

It usually has a little bell or a cow in it too. I wondered if this was some way of identifying with their cows.
There is also the hangover of 80's mullet type of creatures. The abundance of earrings on men is something I have noticed.
Traditionally it's a farmer thing, but I see a lot guys are everything but farmers with cute earrings.

I hate to hijack it further (lest we ban ourselves) but I was thinking of starting a blog about the Swiss affinity for the bad haircut. The Jurassic black plumage with red streak for the ladies and the mullet for the men.

However, there do seem to be a disproportionate amount of lower-lip piercings/studs/rings/things. Or, at least, I notice them more than anything else (other than the incredible amounts of eyeliner all the girls seem to wear here).
(Coming from Sydney, Oz.)

If you want to ever give the impression you know nothing about Swiss culture - try laughing at the earing in a Swissies ear.

So when they pop over the mountain to rape and pillage the next valley, they know who their own team is?
