Urologist for Vasectomy

I used the search function already but could not find too many results on this topic.

Did anybody have a vasectomy and can recommend a good urologist, preferably in the Basel area?

thanks.

Dilbert has no particular reputation at present
Re: Urologist for Vasectomy

If I were you, I would just ask if anybody could recommend a good Urologist. Period. Might increase the response rate.

Re: Urologist for Vasectomy

Best to ask your gp for a referral.

Without being too graphic, choosing a surgeon close to home is wise, as it is a 'walk in, walk out' procedure and they generally suggest you take a taxi home....

Honestly, every time I need a specialist, I either call my insurance or Google it so that I can find someone close to my place or pretty central.

seemed like a good idea at the time, no more than a day or two of discomfort in exchange for not having to wear wellies in bed. 5 days later it feels like me plums have been run over by a tank, black & blue does not even begin to describe what my sack looks like & the thought of going anywhere near a motorbike makes me feel physically sick. Was gonna go to Tong this weekend for a practice but as walking to the kitchen for an ale is hard enough, don't think I'll bother. Wasn't sure what to expect in the hospital, but 8 people in the operating theatre was a surprise, at least they put the fatty near my head so I wouldn't get aroused with all of the fiddling. If you are considering having this done this is fact: IT HURTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BASTARD CUTS YOUR TUBE WITHOUT ENOUGH ANASTHETIC. And if your missus uses the 'it's not as bad as childbirth' token yet again, remind her that childbirth is natural and having a scalpel in your nuts is not.

I can relate to your pain my friend , been there done that got the T shirt and the baseball cap , my advice to anyone even remotely thinking about gettin this done is " if it ain't broke don't fix it " I ended up with plums the size of a melon

the skin on my bag was as smooth as babys bum and as tight as a drum , even the tops of by legs were black , walking like John Wayne in baggy trackie bottoms for nearly 3 fu'ng weeks .

For a urologist try the practice at aeschenvorstadt 52.

Re: Urologist for Vasectomy

thanks for all the quotes. Of course you can always find negative experiences as people are more likely to post those over positive ones.

I was hoping to find a referral by somebody who already had that experience with a local urologist in the Basel area. Anybody?

But having a recommendation for a doctor, specialist or GP is quite reassuring I think. We often ask neighbours and friends for recommendation.

Sorry I can't help OP, but good luck. Any man who accepts to take responsibility gets my admiration- bravo. and complications are VERY rare indeed- a lot less common than complications for pregnancy and childbirth, that is for sure.

I think the figures are generally quoted as a percentage so the total numbers are pretty irrelevant.
Statistically speaking pregnancy and childbirth have a much higher risk of complication than a vasectomy.

Not even taking into account the side effects from other methods of birth control such as the pill.

Re: Urologist for Vasectomy

I just realized that by not posting a positive experience I am not helping others who may search this topic. So, 3 months post vasectomy and we are very pleased with the result. Aside from a slight pulling sensation and a bit of a swollen nut for a few days everything went smoothly and worked painlessly within 3 days. I went swimming the following week and within a month was back to cycling.

For anyone considering having this done I cannot recommend Dr. Cinbis enough. Here is the link to his practice in Basel

Feeling a bit insecure Slammer?

Only real men who are really comfortable with their sexuality can happily consider a vasectomy- having seen their wives/partners going through chidbirth. Bravo Backtoch- and thanks for positive feed-back.

Enjoy

What makes you think that you're an expert on what a "real" man is ? Just curious.

Insecure? ME? Nevah!
Was never an option and a girlfriend who suggested it one time got dumped.
I suppose if you have finished with the breeding program you can go for it, evidently it works for some as we see.

I'm curious about this too, so I've started a thread all about it.

EDIT: never mind. It's been deleted.

Let's watch this (useful) thread become a train wreck instead.

I'm not sure what a person's sexuality has to do with it. Having a vasectomy ( or not) is a personal choice that some men are comfortable with and others aren't and I really don't think it has anything to do with sexuality. Vasectomy is a ( generally) irreversible method of contraception and as one can never predict what may happen in the future one would have to be absolutely certain that they wouldn't want any more children ever before proceeding.

Contraception shouldn't only be a women's responsibility and it's up to a couple to decide which method works best for them as a couple be that a vasectomy, the pill, coil, condoms or whatever other method they choose.

Edit : due to my slow typing DB seems to have started a thread about it in the meantime.

Re: Urologist for Vasectomy

My answer on the other thread;

Can't discust about the real man thing but I can say my man went after our 2 kids so we wouldn't be having the surprise of a third one.

I am glad he didn't fear it and he was happy to do it. For him it was just natural to do it as I had done enough from my part.

Can't take the pill and it didn't make sense to use condoms.
