Swimming classes for babies in Lausanne

Hello Everyone,

We have recently moved to Lausanne with our 6 months old twin daughters and we were wondering if anyone would know a place for babies swimming classes in Lausanne or close by.

Thank you so much,

Oliveira Reis Family

I only know places in and around Geneva, but try to search for terms such as "aquabébé", "natation enfant/bébé", "bébé nageurs" or "aquatique bébé". All in combination with Lausanne of course.

I managed to find this as first hit:

As a new twin mom myself, I'm curious about how this works. Do you both go along (one adult per baby), or do they take turns in the water or what?

We looked into Bebe Nageurs, but as we were told that you only spend one minute in the water per month of baby's age, it seems like a bit too much effort for too little reward ...

Re: Swimming classes for babies in Lausanne

This information is not really correct. I've done babyswim courses with swimsports.ch, who state that the classes should be held in water at least 33 degrees, where babies over 4 months are fine for the whole class (usually 30mins).
I advise that parents should wait until 4 months when they better regulate their body temp, but I've had 3 month olds in class, who leave a bit earlier if they get cold.

There is one in Le Mont sur Lausanne (top of Lsne).

This website gives the details for Le Mont and some of the different options in Vaud.

My OH has used this lady (Katelyn GAUSSEN ) for her three boys with great success. All three have continued in swimming (two competitively).

Re: Swimming classes for babies in Lausanne

Our ped told me that the problem with warmer water is that it usually is a nice nest for a whole lot of bacteria that are not really ideal for babies, especially as they swallow water in there.

Her opinion is that if parents absolutely want to take their babies swimming, it's better to wait until at least 6 months old to take them, as their immune system is a bit more efficient by then.
