Laser Surgery (Lasik) / Ortho K (night) lenses

Hi All

Has anyone had laser eye surgery at Focus Zone, Zurich? If so do you have any feedback?

Does anyone have any other recommendations for a doctor/place to have Lasik? (I cannot travel back to the UK because of the aftercare appointments required)

Alternatively I am considering Ortho K (night lenses). Does anyone know of an optician in Zurich that does these?

Many thanks

I did it in the UK after looking at options in CH.
There is a thread on the subject, the amount of aftercare visits are minimal. I would do the after 1 day & 1 week, then if everything is ok just go back next time your in the UK.

I considered doing it in the UK as cheaper and easier to research but would need to be there for the consultation, the pre-op check, the op, the next day, 1 week check and then I was told there were further checks at 1 month and 3 months. Flights would end up pricier than just doing it here. And if there are any problems at least you have someone on hand here

I went to Pallas Kliniken (link below) after being recommended by a friend who had his laser surgery done at this clinic.

https://www.pallas-kliniken.ch/de

The clinic is very professional and I believe they offer the options you are looking at (lasik or lenses implant). Staff speak English. However, they will charge CHF 450 for a consultation where they explore which is the best option for you. This fee is non refundable and it will also NOT be deducted from the cost of your procedure, if you decide to go ahead.

I did the 1 month & 3 months check up at 6 months, if the correction is off they won't re-operate straight away in any case. I was happier with the surgeon in the UK, in CH they wanted to operate on both eyes, the UK surgeon did not believe it appropriate to operate on an eye that had good functional vision far better than required for driving a car. There is never zero risk so if it's working well why do anything?

Re: Laser Surgery (Lasik) / Ortho K (night) lenses

I considered options in CH and Thailand. But then I just got lazy and got it done in Hamilton at a local lasik surgery centre called See By IV lol. Itís safer this way, and I was able to avoid all the hassle. Whatís important while choosing a lasik surgery centre is how good they are, and how accountable they are. You canít walk around with dry eyes for the rest of your life due to a botched up lasik that you got done in Thailand for cheap. Better safe than sorry.

Fatmanfilms, the UK surgeon is well informed and experienced. In my op you should stick with what he says.

Scherrer Optik at the HB offers the night lenses. But they are really pricey, ~1000CHF per year for the consultation and the lenses.
I m still wary about the night lenses so haven't done it yet, but they claim that it works really well.

Re: Laser Surgery (Lasik) / Ortho K (night) lenses

Thanks for all your replies. After a horrendous consultation at Focus Zone (the guy was really aggressive, wouldn't answer my questions, told me that because i'd done research I was clearly a bit neurotic and went off on loads of weird tangents: one being that it was better to be blind than deaf!!) I decided to bite the bullet and just had it done in London. Now have fab eyesight and was the best decision I could have made.
