I had a same ski injury 10y ago ..and there's very little hope that you can do something about

I'd suggest, you look at the

ORTHOPEDICS - and on your right there's Doctor's list , you can choose someone .. most of them speak good english

Pretty much what Mr.FairDinkum said. I had a tailbone injury last year too and went to the doctor. What she said is pretty much: "Yup, there's a small fracture. Alas, nothing can be done - no point in putting your entire waist into a cast. Man up or prepare for a few weeks of tears on the toilet."

She recommended that I buy an inflatable floating ring and sit on that if sitting on a chair hurts. There were some laughs in the office when I did just that.

As an advice into the future: get ass protection when you go sledging. There's a brand called Azz Padz. Does pretty much what it says on the tin. Protects your behind from the often medieval treatment that hardened ice can impart.

Re: Tail bone Injury- Looking for a doctor/ clinic in bern

Yes...I had also consulted a relative (who is a spine surgeon) on phone. He said the same. He asked me to take rest for few weeks and avoid some activities for around three months.

I only want to get an X-ray done in order to know if the bone is not majorly injured. For the same I am trying to find a clinic in Bern.

Also any idea what will be the charges for the same??

thanks & Regards!!

If you are gainfully employed then your employer is paying for your accident insurance and this will be (in all likelihood) covered by that so you should not be out of pocket in any case. If you do not have accident insurance through your employer, then your regular health insurance must have an accident coverage and any charges will be at most as high as your franchise is.

I myself just went to my GP who did the diagnosis. If your GP doesn't have an xray machine (entirely possible), they may or may not refer you to a hospital where they do have it (depending on how likely they think a badly broken bone is).

Rest assured though, even just a bruised tailbone hurts to nine hells so the pain might make you overestimate the magnitude of the injury.

Me too. Are you me?

I just took anti-inflammatories and stood a lot.

Same here - learning to snowboard at the silly age of 50+

It hurts to bug***y - and for quite a long time, I'm afraid, so I really do feel for you. Yep, painkillers, anti-inflammatories, rubber ring and lots of standing. Still lived in the UK at the time and the GP I saw said there was no point of having an x-ray- nothing can be done anyhow.

Bonne chance.

Maybe it would hurt less if you not so much into buggary ?

The point of an X-ray would be to find out if a) if it is indeed broken and b) to see whether it had moved if it was broken

So, go and have an X-ray done, it will be re-assuring for you to see it's not broken but only bruised (most likely outcome) and if it is broken it will save any complications later on.

Re: Tail bone Injury- Looking for a doctor/ clinic in bern

NotAllthere , ahaha yes, I'm you ))

In fact I had a pain but nothing major and some classic anti-inflammatories, voltaren helped and the doctor was convinced that everything will be fine... as the time passed by I started having lower back problems and after 6 years of complaining I almost beat up my doctor so he can give me that paper to go to do the x-ray etc..

If they take the x-ray this may show nothing like it was in my case... and only after when I took that x=ray when they turn you around and film from all sides, they saw that the whole bone actually got misplaced and there's not much the medicine can do about it.

So my advice is to persist and at least get all the exams possible... I met only doctor's that were "nooo you're fineee.." "you're sitting all day at work and got injured a bit , it's noooormal" )

skd26, the appointment with the doctor may be around 300-500CHF , .. bit more is possible and usually you will be reimbursed by your insurance.
