Umm... if they have two legs I would thinking walking would be the best option, and would come at a cheaper price.

Get him a 3 wheel Micro scooter for longer distances?

We ditched our buggy once youngest was four.

that's what we do too.
a healthy 5 year old shouldn't be in a buggy.

no you don't. Put your foot down.

I've not used a buggy since my child was 3.

Maybe the OP's child has a disability? Or a broken leg?
You could maybe use a small wagon like this?

Re: buggy/stroller for 5.6 yrs old

How strange .. Unless there's some medical condition, fine?

But my 2 year old even walks nearly everywhere. The 5 year old I wouldn't dream of sticking in a pushchair. She easily does 10k on a sunday stroll around the vinyards, scooter and walking..

Re: buggy/stroller for 5.6 yrs old

You can rent buggies by the day, week, or month from Zürich Airport. There is a 200 franc security deposit but the actual rates are pretty reasonable.

http://www.flughafen-zuerich.ch/~/me...tositze_EN.pdf

However, I don't know exactly what models they have and if any of them would be suitable for a child as old as yours.

It's true that this age is considered really late to still be riding in a buggy in Switzerland - 5-year-olds are expected to walk to kindergarten, in some parts of the country even without their parents! So don't be surprised if you get a few funny looks from people on the street, that's all I'm saying.

Re: buggy/stroller for 5.6 yrs old

A trotinette perhaps if terrain allows it. But even my 4 year old goes up the swiss mountains for the day with loads of energy, so maybe you have some undiagnosed medical issues. If in doubt do see a doctor. Is he even mentally accepting of being put back in a buggy?, I know mine would have a hissy fit before even getting near the thing.

Re: buggy/stroller for 5.6 yrs old

Well a mountain buggy would definitely take his weight but they are a big piece of kit to lug around if not using all the time. You can get them second hand on ricardo.

What about a backpack or sling? I used one for my son up until about 5 - just when he got too tired to give him a rest for 40 mins or so. I used a backsling. But not above 5 - he was too heavy but then I am quite slight.

A balance bike is able to go over more rough terrain than a trotti or a scooter but neither really save energy although kids find them more fun than walking.

Or do less? He's 5 so will not be able to walk for kms and will want stops in the park and by the river and for a picnic etc etc.

Thanks for the clarification - please refrain from using txtspk and rather write in full English words and sentences.

I recommend a scooter or trotti, that way he can refine his balancing skills without constantly being gawped at by people for his "too old than normal" age for being in a buggy.

A five year old's attention span will run out before his energy for walking.
