Posting medicine with no packaging

Dear all,

I would like to receive some herbal medicine for my skin (i suffer from psoriasis) from my mum in the UK. In fact my mum makes it at home herself just for myself and the family (she studied herbal medicine years ago but does not practice professionally). The medicine is not packaged and each pill is cut up into 4 pills. So basically it is an medicine bottle without a label, with about 100 mini pills in it.

My question is will it get stopped at customs if she posts it to me, as I don't plan on visiting the UK any time soon, and have ran out of medication. But as you may understand I don't want to lose a bottle of medication either/cause my mum or myself any problems. Any advice is much appreciated.

Regards,

Re: Posting medicine with no packaging

Yes it will get stopped
. I suggest getting it sent to a po box address in germany or france and you collecting it in person.

Ask.qourself this question as a customs offer and you see a bottle of pills with no info what would you think?

How about your mum buying a bottle of spirulina or something like that from Holland and Barrett- carefully open- and replace with your pills- then close carefully. Then put the receipt in package in case they open to check and put 'spirulina' and value on declaration. A bit devious, but should work, just in case.

hey Rob

thanks for the idea but I do not know anyone in france or germany to post it to?

I don't think Customs will stop it as its literally equivalent to vitamins? a random assort of vitamins in a neutral bottle?

A po box at the thousands of packet delivery places. .. not a person.

Mmm and devious drug dealers never thought of that.. The packet will be stopped and held until it's contents are verified.

Re: Posting medicine with no packaging

Why not get the recipe off mum and get it made up here at an apothecary or Chinese herbal place?

a) anything that looks like pills which are unlabelled will attract inspection no matter which country you send it to.

b) homemade medicines really shouldn't be sent through the post as many may not even be allowed in a particular country.
