Yup, just folks,

I have friends some are fat, some thin, some gay, some straight, of varying skin tones, at least 2 vegans and some holy Joes... thing is it never struck me to ask what club they belonged to before I became friends with them.

Personally I'd trust a man wearing nail varnish over someone who won't eat abacon sandwich every time
They do yummy turkey bacon and they taste the same as real bacon.

I'm saved. Uff!

Hmmm. I think you lost something in translation.

Translation? How? what translation?

People who do not eat bacon... who are they then, generally speaking (my nephew in the UK does not like bacon... not sure the comment was about him, though).

People who eat fish and chips = the Berbers, of course
People who eat cheese fondue = the Mexicans, of course.

Yup, just folks,
I don't totally agree with that, and I don't think they would either. I would only agree to the point they should not be mistreated for being different from other folks.

The penomenon is nothing new. They are identified as an official third gender in the Indian sub-continent, have their own caste, and even developed their own language or dialect.

Such a person has gone through a transformation of identity, which typically start with a disphoria with the gender they are born with. I think it the west, it is diagnosed as a disorder, but to them, it is their life journey, and it has to be respected for what it is, a human life.

I actually think they have something to teach others in terms of personal transformation, and the psychology of identity. But only for those who want it or have some understanding of it. For some, it simply freaks them out, and would rather shun it. I don't think anyone should be forced into any disposition about it one way or another. To each his own. For example, I can't ever swallow a bite of tripe or tongue. It just won't go down. Yet I can eat raw sea urchin and live octopus. I would hate to be told I must learn to eat tongue or tripe. I won't.

Re: Transexual as a coach

It occurs to me from this thread that I've had a Couldn'tgiveatomy when it comes to how people appear. It's just about how they act.

For me that's it, end of.

It was also a painless operation....

I'll go for the tripe and the raw sea urchin (my wife knows how to open them), but I'll give a pass to the tongue and live octopus (I like mine DEAD).

Indeed, but the correct local term is "chile con queso".

(though "trendy Americans in the 1970s" also comes to mind)

so could eating fondue- but as a generalisation come on. What is the point of mentioning 'bacon' in particular then, talking about 'mistrust'. So Jews, Porsche, that makes it ok then, thanks.

Glad to see you are happy to put words in my mouth Odile.... and even better if your meanings were in anyway correct.

If it's easy for you to spot humour though, maybe I should prefix with.... there was and Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman.

Re: Transexual as a coach

Just came back as I thought I should really ask YOU what you meant- but you beat me to it. So who are the non-bacon eaters? If it was meant as humour- maybe you could have made it clearer perhaps?

WE all know of course that snail eaters are generally Danes, of course, and the Welsh who eat haggis.

Well Muslims wasn't the first thing that came into my mind when I read the comment to be honest. It depends on your interpretation of it I guess.

I think the point was that you can choose any random thing (eating bacon being just one example ) and say you would trust a transsexual more ie. Being a transsexual and wearing fingernails does not make a person dangerous.

These guys, would be the most obvious target. PG neglected to mention their religion. Probably thought that it wasn't relevant.
