Kinderkrippe vs tagesfamilie

Hello,
Can anybody give a brief overview about the differences between kinderkrippe and a tagesfamilie. my daughter goes to a kindergrippe and i know about it. but i am not so sure about tagesfamilie.
what i could gather from the other threads here is that it is governed by the gemainde and the fees is according to the income of the parents (again decided by the gemainde).
is it that in a tagesfamilie my daughter will go and stay with a family?
what differences it could make in terms of behavioural aspects and learning abilities of the child in a tagesfamilie? do they teach something or is it just play and play like in a kinderkrippe.
i also see many advices in this forum that one should choose a tagesfamilie after checking about insurance stuff and also only if we know the tagesfamilie well. what does it mean? what kind of risks are associated with sending a child to a tagesfamile that dont exist in a kinderkrippe?

cheers

Re: Kinderkrippe vs tagesfamilie

'Tagesfamilie' the child goes to a local mum usually, it english you would call it 'family day care' and it's cheap, but the person is not required to have formal education qualifications.

The risk of a tagesfamilie is that there is no supervision, minimal licencing requirements and it's up to the carer how they want to interact with your child. On the other hand, get a good one and your child will get good individual care, it's cheap and flexible, and they can go out and do things in the community that a childcare group can't provide.

The disadvantage of group childcare 'krippe' is that it is group care, kids and adults share germs, it usually is not so individualised, the kids have to follow the general needs and routines of the whole group, and it costs more.

Advantage of group care is social interaction, reliability that the centre is always open as agreed, professional training of lead-staff, and a child-friendly environment...

Re: Kinderkrippe vs tagesfamilie

Thanks Swisspea. is it also right then that in a tagesfamilie there are less children for the carer to look after which should allow more personalised child care per child?

We are now seriously considering to move our daughter from a kinderkrippe to a tagesfamilie. can parents who already send their children to tagesfamilie advise what care should be taken in choosing the tagesfamilie? regarding the risks, i think they are same with respect to insurance. any other tips, advices in this regard are welcome. we are looking for a full time tagesfamilie.

cheers

Re: Kinderkrippe vs tagesfamilie

I suggest that you do not give notice with the krippe until you have found a suitable carer.

A colleague of mine tried to find a local carer, but had difficulty finding one that did not smoke! Her son is asthmatic and all of them had smoke-smelling homes...
