Read this pdf, it is in English and introduces many aspects of living in Neuchatel. At the end there is a list of English speaking doctors, including ob/gyns and many more.
I contacted several Ob/Gyn and they all responded that they are not taking any new patients. How do you work around this Swiss healthcare system when you need a doctor but cannot get one? How does a person who needs medical obtain a doctor?
i also had the same problem (in bern). The first time i wanted to book an appointment with a gynaecologist it took me 2 mornings of phonecalls. they would either not accept new patients or the next available appointment was after 2 months. finally i found one that gave me an appointment for after one month but he was not speaking english...
the second time i managed to get an appointment for after 3 weeks, with an english speaking gynaecologist, with just one phonecall. (i got the number from a friend of mine).
i know this is not of help for your situation, but i just wanted to share my own experience, which i found quite frustrating. i've heard similar stories from other women, so it seems to be the norm to take ages to get an appointment.
My doctor said, well if you get pregnant they see you almost immediately . Otherwise, you get on the loooonnnnnngggggggggggg waiting list. This was also in Bern.
Goodness.. this is a bit concerning. My wife is due for her 18th week scan pretty much as soon as we land in Switzerland. We have temp accom around Lausanne for a month or so and so I thought it would be no trouble to find a Ob/Gyn around there. Does anyone know of an English Speaking Ob/Gyn in Lausanne so I can book the appointment in advnace?
I realise this post is quite old but was wondering who you went with in the end in Neuch? I am pregnant and having issues getting in with the Gyny my old one recommended (just moved up from Lausanne).
