The last two months Slammer has been working at a online gambling "Den" answering e-mails and responding to the live chat (it's a job that sucks harder than a Russian hooker). What people don't realize is that although the games are not rigged in any way the "Den" always holds the cards.
Mostly I deal with compulsive gamblers whining and begging for freebies like cash bonus or freespins or added points, depending on the amount they have wagered we can give them away, it keeps them gambling, I also deal with the so-called responsible gambling issues.
Every casino has roughly the same ways to assist compulsive gamblers such as setting limits or a timed expulsion or a complete closure of the account, the laws are extremely strict and a compliant from a gambling addict to the regulating powers can close a casino down in a heartbeat.
Thing is the buggers know that damn well and often blackmail us to giving them bonuses.
In the last two months I have never encountered such a bunch of mean, aggressive, whiny, selfish and greedy sons and daughters of Beeitches in one place.
I come to the conclusion that people who gamble have a screw loose.
I know for the fact when you play online poker, there is 5 people at the table but 3 of them are employees of the main site. People who play dont believe that but its the truth. They sometimes let you win so that you think you can win again and continue playing.

Surely it is "Slammer hates this job" or "Has Slammer found this job has stopped Slammer talking in the 3rd person?"
No he hasn't, ok just for you; "Slammer hates this job"

That isn't true as a rule, there are casinos that cheat, but they get closed down faster than they can finish building the infrastructure, the punters are quite sensitive to these matters and simply won't let a cheating casino live for a very long time, you just need to read the forums to see what I mean.

Crikey, so that means they're employing at least 3 people for every two real users? So each user is losing enough to pay the salaries of one and a half employees?

Maybe you should check your 'facts'.

I was watching poker stars documentary and employees are professional poker players. Do you really think they will let you just like that to win their money? And no they dont only play on one table. They open 20 tables and play. Im gona look for document and link it to you.

When he said "Russian" he meant any hooker from the former "Eastern-Bloc" and not necessarily just Russian.

A casino's operation is based on probabilities - it will take a hit evey once in a while, but in the longer run stochastics ensures it will get its share.

Some players may be props (ordinary players that take the role of opening new tables and wait until other players show up), and stuff like that. In return they get a portion (perhaps half) of the site's rake back (rake is the portion of the pot that goes towards the casino to pays for its operations, salaries, profits, etc). With online Texas Hold'em the rake typically is 3-5% of the pot, on many sites up to a certain $ amount. Very popular sites like Pokerstars and FullTiltPoker don't need props at all though.

I don't know about online poker. I would never play with real money in online poker. I only play Zynga chips. But real poker games are not tilted in anybody's favour. Everyone on the table has the same odds, and the game is played by how you bet or fold. In this way, it is more a game of skill and competition rather than pure luck.

In some ways, not a whole lot different from day trading stocks. Risks, losses and gains can be minimised, but stock trading is gambling as well.

Re: Gambling and what to do if it comes in your family

I knew a Brit living in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He'd play online poker on UK poker sites right when the drunks would get home from the pubs, UK time zone. (while he sat on the beach in the afternoon in Mexico)

Made a killing...

Forget if it was Ben Elton or Billy Connolly who commented that "if you blow, you're doing it wrong".

It would appear HR want to see me after googling that at work.

EDIT
Apparently it comes from the receiver blowing their load. A 17/18th century down on her luck woman was known as a "Blowsy" - job description implied. Fellatio remember means to suck

Call it fellatio (latin for sucky sucky 5 LMU) and you're set. Apparently "blow" meant "to bring to orgasm" and the phrase has stuck.

Not at work, access to google
