Re: Big toe fusion

Thing is, Tramadol is highly addictive, so no wonder they want to keep it to minimum. But ... sublime to ridiculous! Bonne chance Nil.

Oh my gosh! We are filling a formal complain about this exactly!!! The clinic gave me paracetamol on the second day in there like it was going to do anything!!! After two nights of intense crying, one old bitchy nurse told me and I quote: " it can't be that bad!"
A fried of mine had similar problems after a foot operation, being in extreme pain for weeks, even months, until the doctors decided to take his pain seriously (they to do many revisions, going from bad to worse!).

I will not go into the details, but it is simply INCREDIBLE that only time can convince the docs that you are REALLY in excruciating pain.
In his case, he got the highest level of pain killers possible, just to make the day bearable.

You shouldn't have to go through so much convincing to get the help you need and simply deserve!

I believe this all happened at a different clinic not Schulthess. I think Nil had nothing but praise for the Schultess clinic.

Found it. I knew I'd read it on this thread somewhere. It was her shoulder surgery in Schultess.
Indeed they were wonderful!!!

I should start a rate and review of hospitals around the world...... I visited too many of them....

Thanks guys! I'm out since a while. I left on the 4th day post surgery. I wrote down everything they said, they did or didn't. They kept lying in my face. They were even super rude to my old kind Swiss roommate lady when they asked for her pain level, she didn't know what to say and what meant 1/10. The old nurse told her: well don't come and complain about pain later....
I'm sorry you had to go through that, Nil. I had foot surgery many years ago and wow - the pain was unbelievable. I am disappointed they didn't manage your pain well. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.

When I was at shulhess clinic for the shoulder, I was on an intravenous mix at all time for 3 full days. I was pain free the whole time.

This time, for the toe at this other clinic, they took the intravenous out and didn't think to use it ever. I asked many times to plug me on.

The old nurse asked me what was my pain on 1/10. I said 9. She rolled her eyes (!!!!) and said: at 10, you'll be passed out.

I was crying, shaking, cold and warm at the same time, I told her that was about right, so put 9.5.

I am not going to let it pass this time, this is so outrageous. I'm going to make sure to complain and to the highest person possible. I won't let take dust on a desk.

Anyway, let's get back this thread on the toe fusion. I really want to give infos to any person who might go through it.

Thanks guys!

When I had slipped discs in my neck, I was on three tramadol a day. After surgery, I came off them abruptly quite happily. Just two paracetamol every four hours for post-op pain - which was all that was necessary (but it was necessary, as when I stopped the paracetamol, it was most uncomfortable).

Pre-diagnosis, I was asked about my pain level and I said "ten". The attending doctor then immediately arranged for morphine. Nothing about "don't be silly, you'd be passing out". The pain scale is subjective, not objective. The nurse was being extremely unprofessional. I thank God my nurses and doctors were, without exception, absolutely wonderful.
