Finding an English speaking Shrink (sion/Lausanne)

Hi,

I've been diagnosed with depression and need to find a psychologist for sessions. I live in Sion, so the Sion to Aigle area is preferred, but even as far as Lausanne is doable.

Till such time as you find a suitable doc, why dont you try meditation? It helped me hugely through my own depression two years ago. The video below presents a very simple technique that really worked for me

Re: Finding an English speaking Shrink (sion/Lausanne)

Are you looking for a psychiatrist or a psychologist? According to http://www.doctorfmh.ch/ there are 5 english-speaking psychiatrists/psychotherapists in Sion, 2 in Aigle, and 34 in Lausanne. I can't provide a direct link to the search results, but you could perform a search for yourself easily enough, as the website is available in English. Just filter by language, specialty, and location and you should see the names.

Hope this helps.

H.

PS-If you need to make an appointment but aren't comfortable with potentially having to make an appointment over the phone with a secretary in French, your GP should be able to help you set up an initial appointment.

I need a psychologist. Not a psychiatrist.

Thank you very much for the link, HeatherM, that is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for.

Just be careful to make sure a physiologist is covered by your health insurance. I'm under the impression only psychiatrists are covered by basic insurance.... But not 100% sure!

Yes, the psychiatrist's fees are covered by basic insurance. The physiologist treatment is limited to something like 10 sessions per year, unless there is extra supplemental insurance.

If you still have trouble finding a doc, speak with your insurance. Mine, at least (SWICA), will provide a list of specialist doctors speaking any language in my local area upon request.

Re: Finding an English speaking Shrink (sion/Lausanne)

I'll send you details of somebody I know in Lausanne in case interested..

Basic insurance fully covered sessions for me. The psychologist explained it something like she was working on behalf of the duty psychiatrist so was fully covered.. Whatever, it was all paid.

Doctors here seems to love these sort of sessions. If there was actually anything wrong to start with or anything was fixed, who knows but it was fun.
