Out of curiosity, do you dye downstairs as well as upstairs? Because if it didn't match, well, you know.... the carpet wouldn't match the drapes?
One of my mates used to always dye 'collar. cuffs and eyebrows', and her husband loved waking up to a new woman every 6 weeks or so.

As we all know, the hair is course on in certain areas, and she ended up with orange and blue downstairs on more than a few occassions.

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

Interesting discussion.

I seem to have inherited hair genes from my mother, who had dark brown hair until she died in her 90`s!

At advanced age now, my only problem I have is that in summer it gets bleached and in winter I then have gold-ish hair with dark roots, so pre-winter have to put in a wash to be absorbed by bleached hair - because I get asked how come my roots are dark and the rest is lighter? (should be other way around?)

My children are going grey before me!

From my vantage point as a creaky-knee'd old lady une femme d'un certain âge, I am amused at many of you young'uns.

It would be even more amusing to revisit this thread in 20 years' time...

My Christmas wish for all y'all:

When you reach your latter years, may you be at peace with yourself and comfortable in your own skin.

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

Non-issue for me, as nature has left me with no choice. I dyed my hair from I was about 16 years old, tried about every hair colour in the book. Then I turned 30, started to have grey hair and...developed allergy to all chemical hair dyes.

Between grey hair and the feeling of a melting scalp, the choice was tough but eventually I got used to it. I did try natural hair colour for a while, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth the money and the hassle. The good thing about it, since I quit the hair colouring relatively early the greys have been creeping gradually. It's a bit more work as the hair has to look good at all times otherwise you look frumpy. But the money I save on colouring I can put in a real good hairdresser and haircare.

After seeing my mom go through chemo AND having to accept her grey hair after 40 years of playing with her hair colour (she had to stop using hair colour not to overload her system with poison), I'm satisfied about having accepted the obvious signs of age that I'm carrying. Because I just turned 40 and there's no way around the fact that I'm getting old, however much I may dislike it.

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

That's the thing though.. feeling good in my own skin has nothing to do with hair colour, some feel good with dyed hair, some with grey.. I am not faced with this dilemma yet, but I will most likely dye my own, simply because it makes me feel good.. I do not feel the need for colour nail polish or make up (most of the time)... I like having a trim body... to each his own..

Same here. I have experimented with colours starting with my early 20s (I had different shades of red, black and even blonde one time). Now, after 10 years I finally appreciate my natural colour - brown, plain light brown. I just pray it won't get grey to soon now.

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

I ordered this stuff colour b4/ color oops on ebay last saturday but it still hasnt arrived.

so I cycled to my biggest nearest town and looked around my local manor and big coop (with a wall and a half of hair colour!) and this stuff b4/color oops or anything like it, they dont sell it.

I can barely look people in the eye the hair colour is so bad, to give you an example of how 'powerful' this brassy orange is, a guy was looking at my hair instead of my chest when we were talking.

so heres another question,

does anyone know if this is available in Zürich Globus or Jelmoli or somewhere else in the big smoke?

It's not precisely the product you're looking for, but I found another hair color remover here... hope this helps, and if it doesn't - perhaps winter is just around the corner and you can say you're cold and wear a hat...

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

yay, it arrived in the post this morning. I kissed the box. . I no longer need nerves of steel. I can relax.

i'm only sorry, in my hair colouring how hard can it be arrogance, i only bought one box, I may just humbly order another box now! since I cant seem to find a local supply.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Globus or Jelmoli sell Manic Panic - tested on celebrities not animals hair colour?

Locally (Zug), in the big stores, I cant get this either or any outré colours in any other brand.

the scissors option would be healthier, cheaper and use less chemicals

Re: Conflicted [over grey hair]

I was looking for manic panic a few months ago.....but no joy. Since then I've decided against it again. Amazon.de was the best i could find.

I used to buy professional hair color (goldwell colorance) from masterhair.de or frisseurbedarf.de (or something like that) 5 years ago. I used to do my roots every 3 weeks....it was worth it for bulk purchases.

If you google opal hair or nebula hair, you'll find lots of coloring tips and advice. I was thinking of doing this, but it looked like too much work.

Moistureize a lot. This stuff is really tough on your hair.
