| Thanks all for useful posts!
anyone knows if it will be possible to find an English speaking GP after arrival in August? Or do they take the patients only in January?
Is there a duty to register with a practice immediately after arrival or is it possible to do it later?
Any tips welcome, thank you! | |

If you tell us where you will be living we might be able to reccommend an English speaking doctor. However most speak some English and a dictionary is very useful in the first year....
You can contact a doctor anytime, when you need one. The system here is private medicine with private insurance. (I think there are about 80 insurance companies here...) The basic insurance, (think French or British systems), is compulsory and premium costs are fixed by the government, but depend on your age.
Generally you contact a doctor. See him. Pay his bill when it arrives, and claim the money from the insurance. (It is more complicated, best to search the archives)
