| | | English speaking doctor in Basel
Hi all...
Would any of you in the Basel area be able to suggest a GP (family doctor) that speaks English well and is (preferably) female? I have been to one already, who comes highly suggested by many, but she's not for me.
Thanks!

Maybe there is one on that list (if Beat or Lynley is a woman's name?); this is the US embassy list for Basel. http://bern.usembassy.gov/basel2.html |

| | | English speaking DR in Basel
Anybody know of any?
And if so, where?
Also, how much is it likely to set me back going for a health matter to a doctor?
Thanks a lot.

I've just made an appointment with Dr. Blatti as recommended by laifu above, the address is Rauracherstrasse, 44. The girl who answered seemed very friendly on the phone and spoke English.
I have got AXA insurance out here, I think without any kind of medical insurance it can be pricey.

I've visited quite a few doctors in Binningen/Oberwil area. Without exception, they've spoken English, mostly fluently.

Just in case anyone else does a search for doctors here in Basel, I want to point out that this link is apparently "dead."
Meanwhile, I've been investigating the offerings of this link: http://www.doctor.ch/general-practice/
As I've decided to select my own doctor, I'm curious how others have gone about selecting theirs? I used to have very few choices of doctor in the US, limited to those which accepted my insurance. Here I feel a bit overwhelmed.
I'm thinking I want to call and find out if certain ones are accepting new patients and then going in to "meet" them... sort of like interviewing (them) for the job. Am I being odd about this?

If something is urgent, there is now a walk-in clinic near the Basel main station. It is very good and useful for busy professionals too. http://www.medix-toujours.ch/home-en | | The following 4 users would like to thank BruceFan for this useful post: | |

I've got a list of English speaking Dr's that are located in Basel and around the Basel area. Currently, I don't have a GP, but if you are in need of a list of English Speaking Dr.'s I can give you the names of all of them, just can't give you a review of if one is better than the other.
As far as the other dr's go, pediatrician, etc... I used the list, went to the first consultation visit and if I felt a good vibe I stayed with the dr., it's proven pretty effective and there has only been once or twice I had to leave the dr because they 'just weren't for me'.
Good luck and let me know, it's a long list so if you have a specific area that you are wanting to know about, do let me know and I can minimize the list a bit for you. |

ETA: The website says they're covered.
