Myopia - Can I keep using two pairs of glasses?

My old glasses (prescribed 4y ago) have correction -3.5D / -6.5D

Last week I did a control and they told me now my correction is -4.0D / -7.25D, and I made a new pair of glasses according to the new prescription.

I found the new glasses super good when I'm outside, more clear than the old one. But the downside is that when I look near (e.g. books, computer), the new glasses make me tired and I feel more confortable with the old one. My work is highly book and computer-intensive.

Question:I can keep using both pairs? the new one for general use and the old one for read/computer work?

Have you considered bifocals? A pair of bifocals would provide you with both near and distance correction in the same pair of glasses.

Your age? If you are 40+ it could well be that you need 'help' with closer work. If you are this sort of age I would have thought the guy testing your eyes might have given you something to read to check this out too. However, I wouldn't go for bifocals if you have just bought a new pair of glasses anyway.
I'm no expert but I wouldn't think using the earlier pair for closer work would do any harm.

I've used varifocal lenses for years and years but for longer periods of work at the computer or the piano I have had 'clips' made which fix onto the 'varifocals' and lower the correction on my distance part so that I have a much larger area of correct focus for about 60cms distance. In progressive lenses this middle distance correction area is quite small and I tended to get a stiff neck when working too long at the computer. For my 'reserve' pair and for my swimming goggles I have only distance correction.
Hope you find a good solution for your needs.

My otherhalf does exactly what you're doing (albeit for a longsighted correction), he spends a lot of time in front of a computer and finds that his older, slightly weaker glasses allow him to focus better on the screen.
He uses the newer ones otherwise.

Been doing it for years and the opthalmologist says it's fine. As long as he's not getting a headache she's not at all worried.
