Where to take the yellow fever vaccine?

Hi everyone!

In 3 weeks I am heading for a tour at Asia and I am gonna go to some countries that have yellow fever risk.

Anyone know where is the fastest way to take these shot?

In Netherlands I just went to the KLM Travel Office / Clinic and had my shots in 10 min. I don't know how here would work.

By the way, I am in Bern, so somewhere close by would be even better

Yellow Fever Vaccination

Anyone know where I can get a yellow fever vaccination in Zurich? I'll be going to Africa in early February. Approximate costs and anything else I should know would be appreciated.

This Tropen- und Reisemedizin place. Look for Gelbfieber
Basic Insurance unfortunately won't pay.

Also here: http://www.ispm.uzh.ch/travelclinic.html.

Sorry, I don't know how much the yellow fever vaccination is. I've been there for other stuff and they are very friendly and helpful. It is about 5 minutes from the HB.

Re: Yellow Fever Vaccination

Hi,

You can get the injection done in alot of the doctors practices over here. I just phoned round and went with the cheapest - the difference was about 50 chf so worth a couple of phone calls. I think we paid about 60 chf each.

We were given the little booklets too which you will need.

Total and utter rubbish, it's valid for 10 years, it even says so in the Internationl Cert of Vaccination that you need not only to get visas, but also to show at passport control in several African countries.

What use is a cert valid for only 10 days after the injection ?

I suppose the wording was a bit clumsy but still... more like "utter rubbish" to not use common sense when reading

This is what I assume rob1 meant as well:

Particularly as that's the only way it makes any sense.

So, the caution is to make sure that you are having the vaccination done MORE THAN 10 days prior to travel or else it is considered invalid.

Re: Yellow Fever Vaccination

Thank you all! I did read somewhere that it should be taken at least 10 days before, but I understood what was meant.

Not totally incorrect, just misleading. I did a double take when I read it as well. But since no-one could seriously believe that such a certificate were only valid for such a short time, then I guessed the guy either made a typo or he meant something else. So I read it again.
We all make mistakes. We all know what we mean by what we write ourselves. The catch is that the person reading it often doesn't.
Peace now?

Anyone know if this clinic is walk-in? Have checked out their Web site and looks so, thought that's unusual here. Writing this to see if you can confirm it's walk-in or if I need to make an appointment.

Thank you.
