I would just like to take the time and post something positive for once. More often than not, posts on EF are about some negative quality about Switzerland and there are more than a fair share of complaints.
But I would like to say, that I had THE MOST pleasant experience seeing a doctor today. It was the first time I've done so in Switzerland.
a) I liked the fact that the appointment was more or less on time and there was no excessive waiting.
b) I liked the fact that the doctor took the time to explain things to me instead of just writing a prescription (which usually happens when I see my Canadian doctor).
c) I think if I had the choice between seeing a doctor in Canada versus Switzerland, I now would choose Switzerland.
Finally, I would highly recommend IFA.
) but the doctors speak English as do some of the receptionists and nurses. You will need an appointment to see a doctor but if you are just going to get a shot, such as the immunization against ticks (zecken in German) you can just walk in. If you need a specialist, they will refer you. The first time you visit you will need to give all your details including your health insurance provider, though you will likely be billed directly and you will need to submit the bill to your insurance company for reimbursement.
