Here! Kronenstr. 12, 8006 Zürich
It's a hidden community centre in a park built above the Milchbuch tunnel entrance, above the Oberer Lettern swimming and drinking area.
Take the 32 or 46 bus to Nordstrasse stop, then look on the map there to find your bearings, or take the 11 or 14 trams to Kronenstrasse and walk down that road until you get to the park.
Here's a bit from their
site:
"Welcome to the Community Centre (GZ) of your neighbourhood. Have a cup of coffee or tea. Meet new faces. Bring your friends along. Share the fun of kids playing on the playground.
Something is always on at the GZ: Women from far away countries learning Swiss German. Senior citizens swapping computer know-how. Youths practicing a dance performance in the Disco. Parents bringing their toddlers to the playgroup or the community lunch. Kids improving their creative skills.
At the GZ there's room, material, and professional support for your ideas, projects, and group venues with your family, your class-mates, or your ethnic group.
The GZ thrives on the demands and voluntary participation of the citizens; it keeps you up to date with activities and events in your neighbourhood, so that you feel at home in Zurich.
Support and advice from the GZ-team strives to make you feel respected and to promote a well-functioning community life.
There is bound to be a GZ in your neighbourhood, too!
Thanks to the generous contribution from the city of Zurich, you will find what you need on this urban Piazza.
The pro juventute Community Centres look forward to your visit!"
I love this GZ. I took my Mother there one morning for a coffee. There was nobody in apparent charge, a few Mums milling about. I walked behind the counter, made two cappuccinos, took some Gipfeli and cleaned up afterwards. I also put money in the honesty box. My Mother was amazed with Switzerland!
