In summary in Basel you need to consider the following options:

1. Live and go to school across the border in France
2. Ditto Germany
3. The following fee paying schools. ISB or SIS in Switzerland, Rhein academy in Germany . You are talking 20 to 30,000chf per year before extras.
4. Local schools. In this instance you are allocated a school near to where you live. Extra language tuition is organised by your school if your child doesnt speak german. This varies by school and canton (baselstadt, baselland, argau)
