Have you had side effects from Nicorette?

Has anybody else had really bad side effects from chewing Nicorette while trying to quit smoking? I gave up smoking in May and have been chewing Nicorette since then. I brought it down to 3 pieces of 2mg per day. This morning my gums started to bleed for absolutely no reason and when I surfed the internet, I found this was a side-effect of chewing Nicorette!?

Re: Have you had side effects from Nicorette?

I used the patches and they worked really well. I stopped using them about 3 weeks after quitting.....ummm so you should be able to get off the gum now

Good luck.

It's been 3 years for me and despite added poundage - it was an excellent choice to quite.

Read the package inserts before taking your drugs !!!

This is what i located in the directions for use

"13. As the urge to smoke fades, gradually reduce the number of pieces of gum chewed each day. This may be possible within two or three months. Unless advised otherwise, no attempt to stop using the gum should be made until the craving is satisfied with one or two pieces a day. The gum should not be used for more than 3 months."

i gave up on the gum and used patches. very effective except for the intense vivid dreams in colour that i had.
they do not work for all as a former colleague from Belgium was covered in patches and still doing 40 / day

Re: Have you had side effects from Nicorette?

my mum tried the patches, but they gave her intense heart pains... perhaps the initial dosage was too high. sadly, it was cancer in the throat that made her give up; she had a tracheostomy - although i'm sure she tried to smoke through that on occasion!

i used to work in a chemists in london, and as already pointed out, you must always read the label... people always think that they are immune to the side effects.

it doesnt sound right that you still have urges to smoke after such a long time using the gum... perhaps you need more moral support or an incentive in giving up?

good luck with it
