Marriage documentation

hello...does anyone know what type of information do these documents include?
- Family register
- Marriage deed
- Marriage certificate

I assume they include names, birth dates, nationalities, civil status?
if anyone has a copy of their marriage papers handy and can describe what info containts, I'll appreciate it!
Thanks!

Re: Marriage documentation

I have not seen mine for years but the marriage certificate has all of those details.

What's a deed? The permission to marry?
And are you referring to the Family Book?

Re: Marriage documentation

The deed and the family register I got from here:
http://www.cagi.ch/en/Mariage.htm
It reads:
"At the end of the ceremony, the couple receives a family register and, if they wish, a marriage deed, and a marriage certificate so that they can proceed with a religious ceremony. A family register is issued only to newlyweds domiciled in Switzerland. "

What we actually need to check is what information those papers have, specifically civil status as there seems to be lots of more information to file depending on the status AND the country of citizenship, etc.
but obviously still unclear to me.
Thanks for any help!

I got mine in front of me.
It's just a red..ish hard cover book with couple of two sided sheets. The correct name is "Familienbüchlein" It has your name, civil status at the time of marriage, place of birth, nationality, mum and dad's name, date of marriage. Then similar info gets repeated for the partner. Oh and there is signature of the registrar...+ an official stamp.
There are more empty pages. I think you add stuff when you have kids etc or if you get divorced :-)

What else do you want to know?

Oh, that is perfect, thanks a lot!

I guess I now need to find out about the marriage deed and the marriage certificate, but perhaps they'll give me the info at the Etat Civil office.

Thanks again!!

Re: Marriage documentation

When we got married we often used the following webpage:
<http://switzerland.isyours.com/e/imm...age/index.html> it was quite useful as it is available in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian.

Maybe the site is helpful for someone.

Just wondering whether on a marriage certificate your civil status can be anything else than married?

well, yes. It can state widowed or divorced? (the civil status before the marriage takes place....you only become married afterwards).

Umm... ok, but... what exactly would that information be useful for?

It may have legal implications, I suppose. Or perhaps, if you want to have a religious ceremony some religions won't allow certain previous civil status. But, I don't know really... Beats me.
