My husband has just accepted a job in Zurich and I am searching for information on schools. We are English and have been living in France for a year and a half. The children are six four and two. The oldest two have been at the local French school and after a tough first year have picked up French. I want to make the next move as easy as possible for them as it has been so hard for them this year. I have looked at the international schools but none seem to offer French and having put them through so much I really want them to keep a bit of French going. They are both mad keen on sports. I guess what I am asking is for a personal recommendation as to the best international school for sports and languages. We will decide where we live depending on schools. I have looked at the websites for Zurich North and Winterthur. Do many people commute from outside Zurich or is it good for families in Zurich?
Any help on this would be very welcome
with very best wishes

French in the German part is tricky, even looking for a French newspaper is often a challenge.
Are there any French based schools in Zurich?
Location - It all depends upon the package, we are a family of 6 and had to live outside of Zurich in order to get a property which would be the right size versus our income. Its a 20 - 45 minute commute depending on traffic. In our small village there are lots of sports going on for children, ie football, gymnastics etc. From what I have seen the sports facilities at the international schools aren't fantastic, however local ammenities outside of school are good.
Hi
There's a French school here. and it is, as far as I can tell, the cheapest of the international schools. Seems like it would be an obvious choice for your family. But then I am a "four-a-bac" alum.
Thank you both for your help in this. I have had a look at the Lycee and at the school in Walliselen ( sp) both look good but I think I am leaning towards the international school and find another way of keeping up the French. So sorry to pick your brains again but it is very hard to get an idea of good places to live with a family from the internet especially as I speak no German yet !!!!! TelAndy your village sounds great and the commute not too bad. Which region are you in and are there any good housing agencies for renting ?
really looking forward to the move well I will be once we sort these things out!
many thanks again and best wishes R
