Wedding Lists in CH

Dear all,

Does anyone know of largeish department stores that do wedding lists you can buy from on-line, a la John Lewis in the UK. I know Manor does them, Jelmoli have just stopped doing any wedding lists at all and it seems like nowhere else does them on line.

This isn't for me, in case anyone is wondering, but for non forum users in CH (I know, I know...) getting married here with most of the guests coming from the UK.

Cheers,

Ali.

Congrats to your friends (although I was hoping it was you).

Amazon.co.uk does online registry (or any of the UK dept. stores) , if the guests don't mind purchasing the gifts and bringing them with them:

Re: Wedding Lists in CH

Friends have used wedding registers in the UK that shipped the good to Switzerland. Great to buy in £ at the moment

I can find you the URL is this is an option (need to find an old wedding invitation)..

Many thanks to you both, buying in UK is definitely an option (and probably preferred with the current exchange rate) as most guests coming from UK. If you have the URL that would be great

I'm guessing there'll be some tax implications, I'll have a scout round the forum for these.

Cheers, Ali.

Re: Wedding Lists in CH

Unfortunately, the company WrapIt seems to have gone bust

After seeing the article, I wouldn't use a gift registry. Make your own registry and your guests can choose the store with the lowest price. My friend had huge problems with John Lewis where many of her gifts never arrived and others were doubled up.

Yeah, I remember them going bust - was not pretty. Thanks anyway for finding it. Surprised about the problems with John Lewis, lots of friends have used them and I've never heard of problems - was that for deliveries to Switzerland or within the UK?

Cheers, Ali

My friends were moving from the UK back to Jersey 2 months after the wedding. When they couldn't deliver in this time she asked them to deliver to Jersey and this took another couple of months.

Thanks, it's worth bearing in mind if John Lewis will deliver overseas.

Re: Wedding Lists in CH

Yup we used Wrapit and it was a bugger :-(
Globus do gift cards and could be an option. Where are you getting married, if in Switzerland you could open a registry in John Lewis or the like (might need to go there to select what you like - but note that John Lewis have a pladge of never knowlingly undersold) - then make a list there and get people to bring gifts. If they bring, so long as they say the gift is under CHF200 (I think) then not subject to tax. If items are sent to you - if you have them addressed to both of you then that's CHF 400 (tbc) between you for the value - good to know too if anyone sends things to you in the post in the future....does that help?

Re: Wedding Lists in CH

Thanks, I'll suggest the John Lewis route to them, vouchers from Globus also could work.
Cheers, Ali.
