Sweden one of the best places for children

Youngsters in Sweden have a better life here than in almost any other economically advanced nation, according to a new report from UNICEF. The study looked at things like poverty, health, education and family relationships. Sweden came second after The Netherlands while the UK and the US were at the bottom of the table of 21 countries.

What are your thoughts?
I came accross this yesterday.

If I had kids, I'd be regretting leaving Sweden and ending up in Switzerland.

This should be in Family Matters, so I'm moving it over there.

Not sure about the data. I mean, I don't know about Sweden, but have you seen the price of a Big Mac+fries in Switzerland?? Kids can hardly afford to eat it. What kind of quality of life is that for a kid??
(Hey, only kidding. There's always KFC)

Re: Sweden one of the best places for children

It is a fascinating report. You can download teh full 52 page breakdown of the stats from the unicef website.

Something quite interesting is that for Switzerland, they had the highest score (80% of children) for the friendliness/helpfulness of 11, 13 and 15 year olds to each other, but then one of the highest rates of bullying in the same age group. 40% of children for the same age groups said they had been bullied in the last 2 months.

I guess that means the 20% who are unfriendly and unhelpful are going round bullying half of all the other children! Scary

Did I have a different view of a Forum?
It is your choice where you want to raise your kids.

I don't have kids.

But this is a forum about Switzerland, not Sweden.

You can choose to comment or just ignore and I don't think I am the cause of you not having kids, so why don't you leave it for those who want to commwent on the topic.

All the same, thanks for alerting me that this is a Forum about Switzerland. You can take me off if you so wish but then see similar comments about UK being the worst Country to raise kis.
I think someone told me UK is in Ticino but there were many responses.

Re: Sweden one of the best places for children

I'm just trying to see what Sweden's excellent standing has to do with Switzerland's standing. It almost seems as if you confused Switzerland with Sweden by saying:

My apologies if I am mistaken.

My apologies too Sir/Madam, I may have misundertood you.
I was surprised when I read the report from UNICEF because Sweden is my 2nd home and all along I have thought Swiss is the best place for children.
