Re: Looking for English speaking Obstetrician / Gynaecologist in Zurich area

Hi, I have found the doctors here to be very helpful:
http://www.medix-gruppenpraxis.ch/pr...eam_aerzte.php
They have experts in many different areas so it's a one stop shop!
Hope this helps.

She was great with me. It was easy to get an appointment (after calling loads of other surgeries that would require me to wait months to be seen), and suggested annual check ups.

Her receptionist also speaks English
I second all of this. She gets you an appointment immediately and is super thorough. I've only had two prenatal appointments with her so far but she's very professional and direct. She has that typical 'conservative' Swiss way about her but at the same time, she is very caring and somehow seems amused by the silliness and weirdness of my husband and I (he cried at the 12 week scan today, plus corrected me when I put my feet in the stirrups wrong, telling her "I know cause I saw it on tv!").

Her receptionist/assistant is also lovely and very friendly and warm. They make what's a bit of a scary time for me feel relaxed and comfortable.

I LOVE my OB/GYN. She speaks English, and so do her assistants, although they don't speak it perfectly. Enough to communicate, though!

Dr. Cornelia Loehse (Lohse with an umlaut over the o)
Located near Central tram stop.

Re: Woman to Woman: Please help [obgyn needed in Zurich/Adliswil]

Hi,
Mine is in Adliswil. She is great and speaks excellent english. We just had a baby with her help in Sanitas Kilchberg. The care and system in general in CH is very good.

Dr. med. Nadja Manneh
Kilchbergstrasse 19
8134 Adliswil
043 377 09 77
info@gynadliswil.ch

All the best.
I hate to do this, but no, no, NO! I found her to be rude, impatient, and incompetent. Zero people skills. Her English is also not so good (not even knowing the terms for female organs/parts). Her German is easy to understand, but even in German she has no tact.

Seeing her was the worst experience with a doctor I have ever had (the least awful of which was her forcing me to reschedule, then charging me for the appointment that she canceled).

I wish someone had warned me before I saw her. Sadly, it was only afterwards that I heard the stories. No one I know has had a good experience with her. I suppose people go to her because she's apparently the only obgyn in Adliswil?

One fellow pregnant lady has informed me that she doesn't do births anymore, and when you go in for a prenatal visit, she rushes through and doesn't give you the baby's weight, size, etc. or ultrasound pictures unless you push for them. Based on my feeling that we have generally good maternal care here in Switzerland, that seems odd to me.

P.S. Sanitas was simply amazing (had my son there). It's a shame they aren't open for births anymore.

Answering to the very first question, looking for Gynaecologist:
Dr Stoessel close to Kreuzplatz is quite a good doctor, speaking Englisch and having a permit to operate in almost all hospitals in Zurich.

I live in Adliswil and am looking for an OB/GYN... I am skeptical about this one but am interested if there are others in the area... Or somewhat close or convenient to Adlswil. Can anyone help with this please? English-speaking is a must as my German learning is coming very slowly... Thank you!

Re: Looking for English speaking Obstetrician / Gynaecologist in Zurich area

We are in the process of moving to Zurich area - Kilchberg/ Ruschlikon borders to be precise. And I just found out I am pregnant. Perfect timing

We know about insurance but are happy (and lucky enough) to pay for private care as long as the hospital in question has full neonatal intensive care facilities. I suspect that means Klinik Im Park is out of the question.

I need to find an English speaking obstetrician - ideally one who would have a practice on "our side of town" but also be able to see us at the University Hospital Zurich. I don't fancy making my way all the way there for every single appointment.

Also has anyone given birth at the USZ in the private bit? Or for that matter the normal ward? Please share your thoughts!

Re: Looking for English speaking Obstetrician / Gynaecologist in Zurich area

Hellooo ladies!

I know this thread is old, but it is nice to keep updating the info!
Just wanted to let you know that I went to Patrick Pescatore today for a check up. He was very nice ,and spoke good english and was very friendly and professional. He is a short bus ride form the airport, and right across from the stop. Right by Rolli's steakhouse too, for all your preggos! Only one of his secretaries speaks english, but I have gotten her most of the time. Hope this is helpful!

Re: Looking for English speaking Obstetrician / Gynaecologist in Zurich area

Hi Ladies! I was dreading the moment of having to change my OBGYN from Mexico and have to settle to one here. I have to say, I not have so many positive experiences with doctors.
However, I found a great one! He speaks English, German, Hebrew, and a little bit of Spanish. He is really amazing! The nurses there that help him are really nice as well.
Here are his details: www.rabner.ch

Hope you find someone you feel comfortable with. It is very important! Good Luck!

Hi I'm looking for a gynae in the Pfaeffikon, ZH or Uster area that's female and speaks English. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Another recommendation for Dr. Städeli. When I had some very early pregnancy complications and no one other doctor I called was able to work me in, her receptionist insisted that I needed to be seen, and made me an appointment the same day. Dr. Städeli is not overly warm or effusive, but she is caring, competent, and allows plenty of time for discussion and to answer my questions. Her office is located directly on Bellevue, so appointments are very convenient. English communication is no problem.
