Caffeine tablets in switzerland?

Does anyone know if/where caffeine tablets can be purchased in Switzerland (e.g. 100mg caffeine tablets)? They are available in most countries but can't seem to find them here. I asked at a local pharmacy and they only had chewable energy squares that had a small amount of caffeine and a bunch of other "energy" products.

Re: Caffeine tablets in switzerland?

There is no medicament only with caffeine available, as far as I can tell from kompendium.ch.

Did somebody say Cassis de Dijon?

Do you have to have caffeine in a solid form..? An 8 ounce cup of coffee (drip) contains 145mg of caffeine and a 16 ounce "Grande" from Starbucks kicks in with a whopping 330mg...!!

I had kicked the caffeine habit all of last year, but ever since studying for exams I've been drinking a few bottles of diet coke per day, which does fantastic things for allowing me to study and concentrate... but certainly cannot be healthy. I was hoping to just take a tablet when necessary and go back to drinking the flavorless clear liquid that comes out of the faucet. As for coffee, I can't stand it. Thanks for the link to the database though, very interesting!

Re: Caffeine tablets in switzerland?

I've bought pure caffeine in powder form from the Apotheke - although they had to go in the back and rummage around, finally finding a jar that looked to be a few decades old. So, I'm not sure that it's a generally stocked item.

The nice pharmacist did want to know what I planned on doing with the caffeine before she sold it to me, though.

(An article in Nature looked at the use of caffeine as a natural pesticide - so I wanted to try it against the infamous Swiss slugs.

It didn't work. I think the caffeine just did fantastic things for the slug's concentration, allowing them to destroy my garden more efficiently )

But you might ask your pharmacist if he/she can get you the powder form.

Migros now sells caffeine ampoules and strangely has introduced them as an M-Budget brand: A pack of five 25ml ampoules with 80mg caffeine and some sugar water costs 7.90 Fr.
