Hi Ladies,

I moved to Switzerland in March this year. I just found out I'm pregnant (13 weeks) and would love to meet some mum's out there. We are currently living in Clarens which is near Vevey but don't mind traveling around.

Would be really great to start meeting some new people, as I dont speak French yet but my partner is French so he's fine !

Also if any of you know about some mother groups that I could go to and even pre-antental classes near me, preferably in English that would be of a great help!

Thanks in advance,

Lara
Hi Lara,

I also live near Montreux and just had a baby at the Samaritans in Vevey - can't recommend it enough! We did our prenatal class at the Centre de Sages-Femmes in Vevey. Our was in French but if they have enough takers, they do them in English too (there's an English speaking midwife called Rita).

Maybe you're all sorted by now but feel free to get in touch should you want any more info.

Hope all's going well wit your pregnancy,

Millsy

Congratulations Lara! There is a lot in the area for mothers and babies - I have a list I can send you if you PM me with your email address. I also took antenatal classes with Rita in Vevey (for both kids) and went to the Samaritan and had a fantastic experience both times. Good luck!

Re: Pregnant in Lausanne

Hey everyone!

I know I am posting this message way too late, because all the girls that have posted messages here, now have 2,3 years old babies, but I just discovered this site and particulary this section about beeing pregnant in Lausanne. I am pregnant in 3 months by now, I live near Lausanne, and I moved in Switzerland 7 months ago. I don't have a lot of friends here and even if,till now, keeping the contact with my old friends on skype helped me , now, with the pregnancy I do really feel a strong need to comunicate with women that are in the same situation like mine.
I am looking forward to meet mommies or futur mommies who are willing to chat and share experiences. I speak english, spanish and a bit of french, so I am opened to everything.

Re: Pregnant in Lausanne

Hi Cammy,

I've been in Switzerland for 8 months now, and am actually overdue now - my baby girl was due on Tuesday! I live near Vevey so that's about 15min from Lausanne, I'd be happy to keep in touch and give you any information you need and share my pregnancy experience (which has been great in Switzerland).

Feel free to PM me, and it would be great to meet up in the near future.

All the best!

Re: Pregnant in Lausanne

Hello Ladies!!!

I have just moved in Switzerland and live in Lausanne. I am planning my first baby now and have really not made up mind about delivering baby in India (home Country) or in Switzerland. I want to be with my husband during pregnancy.

In case I think of going to India for delivery then my Husband wont be able to come down to India due to his work commitments. On the other hand I am really scared about the whole baby thing. I am worried if I will be able to manage it all by my self. I mean I want it to be a natural process delivery.

Can someone please guide me and help me take a right decision.....

Please

Thank you

Payal

Re: Pregnant in Lausanne

Oh Payal!

Hugs to you!

I delivered in Canada, but I found having a midwife made a HUGE difference. I saw her more frequently than a regular Ob-Gyn and she was a valuable resource for nursing and other postpartum stuff.

For what it's worth, OBVIOUSLY it's important that the father be there for the birth but the best help I had after my pregnancy came from my mother and mother in law. I was so sleep deprived and since they had been through something similar, they just milled about in the background - doing laundry, cooking and holding the baby when I needed sleep or a break. I had a c-section too so I REALLY needed the help as I wasn't mobile for the first week or so. Your husband could do these tasks too but it depends on his work committments as you mentioned.

Looking back, the baby thing wasn't too bad. The Toddler thing might be the death of me.

Re: Pregnant in Lausanne

resuscitating (sp?) this thread...

I am almost 15 weeks pregnant with my first child. We moved to Lausanne 10 months ago, and I would LOVE to meet with other women who might be in a similar situation.
I miss my friends & family back home in Oz, so would like to swap stories/advice/fears! with other mums-to-be!

I don't work, so I have all the time in the world!
