My wife and I have been separated for three years but haven't got around to divorcing. We talk about it occasionally but neither of us knows where to start and there is no pressing need just yet.

We are both British living in Basel. Does anyone have any advice for us?

The Swiss Admin page on divorce states that a petition must be filed with the local court.

Does anyone know the procedure for this in Basel Stadt and the approximate costs.

It would be a "simple" divorce. We've no children, no financial disagreements and we're still on friendly terms. We'd rather avoid paying too much in lawyers fees where possible.
